    Show me your ANVIL

I have one stand together but not finished. I used carriage bolts to hold it together. More to come on this one. It is roughcut 3x4 posts from an old shipping crate. This is just a temporary stand. I will build a steel and sand one later. I cut apart some heavy bearings to get the balls for...

Who should I look at for a 15 CFM plus compressor?

I'm looking for a new compressor too. My Quincy QT-54 died after 26 months. I hated it anyway...it was very loud. I guess the Baldor motor died...replaced the start capacitor and it's still dead, flashes in the breaker panel.

So used anvils are now $10 a pound?

Anvil prices seem to vary by location. In the rust belt they seem to be pretty fair priced. As you go south or west they seem to get higher. It also depends on size, brand and condition. A 350 lb. plus Hay Budden or Peter Wright may bring $8-10/ lb all day long while a 100 lb no name may bring...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Can someone educate me on this style of vise? I know there is a HF version but is there a good version? There was a dark blue HF version posted a couple days ago and it looked different than either of these. http://jacksonville.craigslist.org/bfs/5675751891.html...

Garage Construction Materials American Coolair fans

Not really for the home garage but they make industrial & commercial, agricultural and restaurant fans in Jacksonville Florida. Motors are Baldor...practically everything else is made in house since 1928...still owned by the same family (3rd generation with 4th generation also working there)

    Compressor piping

I used galvanized and have had no issues for 9 years now. I have drains and filters. All of my "drops" come off the top of the pipe. I would try the flexible plastic if I built another shop.

    which welder to get

Ok...I welded for a living for 17+ years...went to school for welding, held a few certifications years ago but haven't welded for a living in over 10 years. I'm still in manufacturing at the management level (plant manager with 5 supervisors and 92 hourly under me). We have a variety of welders...

New CAT 41 and 52 inch toolbox made by Waterloo

I would have loved a CAT box when I worked for them. But, after 18 years there I am out of a job because they are closing the plant here. I'll pass.
