Tips to save a little money

I like to buy "oops" paint. That is when the color is not quite right, or maybe they never came back to pick it up. I got 5 gallons of really nice blue for my garage for $35, walked around the corner to check, same 5 gallon bucket was $129 retail! Also, if you have time, yard sales are great...

    Interesting Tool Product Warning

"When they start going into the food store, and labeling the food with a prop 65 label, we will all know that we are doomed" They don't need to do that, there is actually a sign at the front door saying "This store sells items that are know to the state of California to cause cancer." The...

How often do you have your spetic tank pumped?

"Some people" rig up their washing machines to dump water out to the yard. It's called grey water, and believe it or not it is actually legal in Crazyforni@. Probably because of our droughts. "Some people" even do this with their showers. Saves hundreds of gallons per week from going into the...

    Sand Blasting

I hate to be "that guy", but.... Someone mentioned using playground sand. Sand is silica, as in silicosis, also known as lung cancer. If you use sand, you should use a respirator to protect your lungs. Do your research. There, I said it. Just in case someone doesn't realize the danger.

mistakes/regrets/things you hate that you did to your garage

Regrets: not fixing the roof 20 years ago when it started leaking! Things I like: that I finally did replace the roof, including deck....installed metal roof over 2x3 purlins. Thing I really like: that I placed attic foil on the deck under the metal....it's actually cooler inside than outside...

Versatube. Bought a car and cant afford a garge to keep it in

"This is why I don't mind living in an HOA community. I would not want rednecks pitching Harbor Freight car tents in their driveway...." This is why I DON'T live in a HOA community.... I AM a redneck and value my freedom more than my property value. But, that's just me.....

Things you've learned, life lessons in the shop.

Sometimes the easy way is the hard way- like spending half an hour trying to change the plugs on a car before I spent five minutes to remove the alternator. Slow down and think.

    Garage Doors are yours safe?

"If you are a parent and worried your kids will get hurt. Well then you need to do a better job. My parents warned me so many times about the danger. Thus I was careful" Yeah, we all know kids pay attention at all times, and are never distracted or inattentive, just like us!

Too lazy to use power tools

I do this. Use a hacksaw quite often, I have learned a technique over the years that makes it work, you might call it "rocking" the saw. Also use long strokes so every tooth gets used. I also only use a hammer for nails, actually enjoy when I have the opportunity to pound away my frustration...
