Vehicle Oil Changes: Are you a DIY'er?

To funny. All this oil change talk and I just received a $15. off certificate from the dealer that I use to go to. Funny part is the acknowledge that "you probably have had your oil changed else where". I wonder if their shoddy work has finally caught up to them and they are noticing a decline...

Vehicle Oil Changes: Are you a DIY'er?

Do it myself. Is it to save the $20. after buying the supplies that the dealer makes. Hell no!! Is it because I am sick and tired of having to come home and grease the chassis yet again because they didn't. Yes. Is it because the tech lied to my face at a previous dealership that he had greased...

    Let's See Your Garage Dog

Sorry to here about your loss Dan. I know the day is coming as Snugs is almost 12 as well. After seeing Torque had to put mine up. Know what you mean by them being a pain. I get lot's of exercise letting him out, just for him to decide no one is outside and he needs back in. Here he was...

    Outlooker spacing.

Hi all. Quick question. Getting ready to frame out my gable ends. What is the correct spacing for the outlookers? Should they be spaced 12", 16" or 24" o/c? Shop is 18'x24'. Roof overhang is 18" Gable has been dropped 3.5", with trusses spaced at 24". 5/8" T&G roof sheathing if it makes any...

How close is your shop to your house?

15' from the back door of the house to the shop door (or 5' from the edge of the deck). Have to make the space you have work!! Wish the wife just would have wanted to moved out to the country.

    LED rope lignting

Used rope lighting a few times. Theater room in old house had cove moulding mounted about 9" down from ceiling with rope lighting set in the V for indirect lighting. Worked real well. Had concrete curbing done a few years ago and an option was to have LED rope light placed in back edge of curb...

    Saving a few coins etc

I have used WD-40 before to drill stainless bolts on my truck exhaust, as thats all I had at home. Made it through three bolts with the same pilot and drill bit with no issue. Used a fair amount to keep things cool and it worked well.

Question on furnace outlet PVC through wall

Paul. When you run that new vent pipe be sure to slope it right. I believe it should slope back towards the furnace, but double check to be sure. After the second installer returned to fix the pipes on our new install (as they had only been primed and not glued) he had mentioned the slope being...

    Locating Survey Markers?

If your in a subdivision you might look into getting a copy of your neighbours plot plans. They will show you how far the foundations are located from the property lines and you can use these measurements to get a close idea of pin locations. Like others have said don't count on pins being...

    here's one ..

Couple of more questions Anthony. Is that exchanger you listed for me double wall? Couldn't find it any where in the literature. Is the reason for getting below the frost line to save on heat loss? Everything would be glycol filled so freezing is not a concern.Thought of having to trench 4' deep...

    here's one ..

Nice setup Anthony. Builder put the same water heater in my house which was surprising for a cheaper builder. Couple of questions, by using the heat exchanger there is no chance of cross contamination into the domestic hot water? Do you think it would be a viable option to circulate glycol...

    High lift door conversion advice

I purchased the door for cheap off Kijiji as it was an inside divider wall in a music shop. The track set up was a bit different, it had a a double track on the horizontal. I think this was done so that the top of the door moved away quickly to clear the beam that was in the way. I don't think I...
