    "Pre-Block" Grinders--Where's the Love?

Thanks for posting that ad. I picked up a very nice condition 1/4 hp (dated 8/59) one (extreme right in the ad) a few years ago that has no side wheel guards. (like the picture) When I first looked it over, I thought the seller had taken them off. But he said it came that way & looking at it...

    Beryllium Copper tools

They can still be found on ebay & sometimes on Craigslist. Tommy Armour also made their 845s in BeCu, I think in the 80s or early 90s.

Did I just score at the pawn shop???

Yeah, get the other one too....those are nice. I would have definitely grabbed both & offered a price on a package deal.

If you don't own an ultrasonic cleaner, I suggest you get one.

Stupid question perhaps, but where do you guys dump the greasy/oily liquid when you're done? I wouldn't want to be dumping it in my septic tank.

Why are titanium tools so expensive?

When the SR-71 was on the ground waiting to take off, it actually leaked fuel that puddled on the ground. There are no internal bladders to hold the fuel. During flight, the panels would expand & seal, thus stopping the leaking. It is a beautiful & fascinating plane.

Why are titanium tools so expensive?

Speaking of titanium, this was on last night's Super Car Build. (think it's National Geographic channel) Top speed of 203 mph & cost over $1,000,000. The best part is all the bolts used (I forgot the # mentioned) are titanium & the cost on those alone is $100,000. Pretty sure it's not in my...

Somebody thinks they have a gold anvil.

That's assuming his guess of the weight is accurate. (or close) I've often found that isn't the case when people are guessing.

    Trenton Anvil Question

I'd post it over on iforgeiron & see what those folks say about it. In the past I went there a lot & those guys really know their stuff on anvils and/or blacksmithing. I found it to be one of the best sites for blacksmithing. As far as price, I wouldn't call $3 a pound way high, especially on...

Question Re. Vintage Gerstner Model 52 Chest

I've used GE Silicone II as a bonding agent & it does work well. Trust me, you won't go wrong using it for this application. But if you weren't happy with the results, it can be removed with no harm to the finish of the box. (run some fishing line behind the badge to break the bond) Given my...

The VINTAGE toolboxes of Garage Journal!

Thanks, it was hardly used by the original owner & unfortunately not currently being used by me. I went to buy something else he had listed (can't recall at the moment) & he asked if I'd be interested in this box. Didn't really need it, but the price was right, so it came home with me.

The VINTAGE toolboxes of Garage Journal!

I have the same Yorktown box I picked up a few years ago off Craigslist from the original owner. The only difference being the shape of the handle. Unfortunately, I don't remember how long he said he had it or if I even asked the question, so I'm no help as far as age of the box.

Rare 1918 65lb Arm & Hammer Anvil Refurbish and Stand Build

Nice. I've come across quite a few anvils, but never a Arm & Hammer. I have a Peter Wright & Hay Budden myself. Good luck on your recovery.
