    Firming up sloped gravel driveway

Hi all, I have a gravel driveway going down a 12% slope. The driveway is 6-8 inches of .75-1.5 clean and is too soft. It connects my main driveway to the shop and delivery drivers get stuck when they try to k-turn. I keep a cone on it for now, but just want to firm it up. The section that needs...

Planning lift location new garage build

I probably could have done 10ft walls and reduced the pitch, but its too late now. I like the steeper pitch for other reasons. I'm thinking center side to side and a foot back of center forward to back. I don't think I could ever stack to cars due to the overhead door height when open. Tundra is...

Planning lift location new garage build

It is a 7/12 scissor truss, 5/12 on the inside so it will be 14' high in the center. I have a tundra, wife rav 4. I think center is the only real option if I want full lift height.

Planning lift location new garage build

We are building a 24x24 pole structure with 9 foot walls and 7/12 scissor trusses. It will have a 16x8 garage door on the gable end and 2 enclosed lean-tos on the eave sides for shop/ storage space. Down the line I may put a 9,000lb 2 post lift in the garage so I want to pick a spot to thicken...

    Help with large anvil identification

Good tip on the chalk! I can barely make out a "P" and "E" on the opposite side from the Hundredweight numbers.

    Help with large anvil identification

Thank you! The thing is a beast and it is in very nice shape minus the minor chipping. I wire brushed the loose paint off and oiled her up and she looks and sounds amazing. I was studying some photos and it looks like an early Peter Wright to me, but someone with more experience would probably...

    Help with large anvil identification

Hi everyone, I could use help identifying this anvil. I think it may be a Peter Wright and weighs about 412 pounds. The rebound is extremely good. Anyone have any idea of who the maker could be?

    Show me your ANVIL

Here is a 178lb plate-less Hay Budden I picked up . A little less than 2.50 a pound on ebay of all places. Good shape, minus some edge damage. Very good rebound and very flat work surface. It will get some light use in my workshop. Is it worth welding up the cuts in the edges? I will probably...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Picked up this Prentiss No. 20 on ebay. Its in pretty good shape, but I may restore it at some point. I am keeping an eye open for a no 22 or 23 with the graffiti font. Maybe one day Ill be lucky to find one of the big boys but for now this is a perfect home shop vise for me.

175lb Hay Budden anvil questions, odd tag?

Hi everyone, I have this 175lb class Hay Budden anvil. From what I gather, it was made in 1920 and is the 2 piece plate-less design. It looks like someone did a little damage to the edges with a plasma cutter or something. Being that the entire top half of the anvil is steel, can I more readily...

Looking for design advice based on my plans

That's a big trench. Are you subbing out the electric? If you don't mind sharing, what did the concrete work and digging run you? I'm saving a good amount since I can pull drainage, electric, and water right from my house (15 foot run for the drainage).
