Just a work of warning, steel prices are not at thier cheapest right now... I just put in a order last week and it was right at $10/ sq ft for 16ga galvanized with 2 bends in it. We are usually more expensive up here, but I would be surprised if it was a whole lot cheaper down in the states.
I just got one of THESE, hung a sheet on the garage door and pluged it into my shop stereo...
Makes a 150" screen in about 5 minutes and is a big hit with the Wii hooked up when we have house parties.
Can you buy 4x10 sheets all I've ever worked with was 4x8's and 4x12's?
Also as a good rule of thumb figure multiply the material price for each labor activite, so 2x the price to hang it, 3x the price to fire tape it, 4x the price to finish cote it, 5x the price to texture and paint. Well...
Hey if you don't mind, PM me the contractor that quoted you. I still need to do this and it wouldn't hurt my feelings to just sub it out if the price is right.
Thanks,

One thing I found helpfull was buying an aditional 3ft extra conductor length than needed and cutting the conductors down so that they were stagered (starts with just 1 wire and works up to all 4). The advantage here is that at each turn you are only initiating a bend in 1 wire at a time.
Oh...
You're probably fine, just not much room for error there in my mind. We share similiar winter temps right? (negative 30ish for at least a week every winter and lots of below freezing).
Oh yeah and I fat fingered keys when I stated the door insulation value, I meant R16... Really as long as...
I don't understand the heating thing, so is this garage unheated? Any properly sized heater should be able to bring the garage back up to temp in say 30 minutes after you open and close the garage door.
If it's unheated than how about just building a carport for the wife and taking over the...
Nice build I'm super jealous of the size (mine is only 26x30). One question though as I am doing in slab heat in arctic conditions too. Will the 12kw boiler be enough in the middle of the winter for such a large shop? I saw you had R22 walls and 3" of insulation under the slab so I'll assume...
Well Lowes had to give the price a little "Alaska Premium", but I still think I got a good deal on 10 of them for $300 even. Oh yeah and sorry to anyone else in Anchorage, I bought out both stores...
I'll bet the $59 price is what they were supposed to be, being as that is 50% of the original...
I'm still a huge fan of both on the walls... 1/2" OSB oriented laterally starting from the bottom up, then 1/2" rock from the top down. Who cares about accidentally putting holes in the wall, I like knowing that I can hang soemthing heavy ANYWHERE on the walls. Also it should help a lot with...
I think it cost me a total of $250 to just OSB my 10' walls then drywall over that. It's WAY better for sound proofing, you can hang something anywhere and no worries about accidentally punching a hole in the wall.
I'm sure someone will tell you this is a bad idea but I just got my coil...
