haven't read any of the previous responses...
never looked into the "proper" lube for ratchets. i usually just use the oil for air tools but that's like once a few months...
if the ratchet breaks my snapon dealer covers so thats my situation lol.
i use the wire racks that others recommended above. works real well and easy to keep organized, and in my opinion cleaner than what op did.
with the wire rack the length of the tool doesnt matter. however with the OP's method i feel space will be limited...
aircat 1150. if you're going to spend 100 bucks on a tool you might as well spend a little bit more and get quality.

I am stuck in the same situation deciding on a vantage ultra or the picoquad 4000 kit.
I do like the portability of the vantage as well as the pin-out/informational function of specific component you are testing. However being that it is limited to only 2 channels leaves more to be desired...
