I scored an few year old cyclone style house vac to clean my 2 car garage. I dont want the dust up in the air. I will usualy use a broom to collect the big stuff and dust pan that up, but then vacuum the floor with the old house vac. I can say I have gotten some odd looks from the neighbors.

Man, I'm in my 30's and I'm old. You all must be ancient. Did they have saws when you were my age, or just sharp rocks?:D Edit: And for the record I thought it was older than that.

There is so much metallurgy that goes into designing a piston I doubt that you could mill / lathe one out that would compete strength wise with something a reputable piston manufacturer makes. If you had some odd ball motor that nothing at all was available for you could mess around with it...
