GS Hexagon logo, 8" adjustable wrench

I just found an 8" adjustable wrench with a hexagonal G/S marking at a Springfield, Missouri flea market. I cleaned it up and offer you folks a few pictures of what I think is a Gamble Stores branded wrench. I think it's unusual in that it has a smooth hanging hole, not a broached hanging hole...

    Best multi screwdriver

I bought four Picquic screwdrivers at Tractor Supply Co (TSC) in Kansas USA just today. I cleaned them out! They had only the Dash 7 with Teenie Turner. $10.99 for the combo.

    Lets see your workbench

Fun thread! I just moved into a new shop and it's still not completely organized; however, I did purchase three workbenches and am pleased with them. One workbench (36"x72") is hard maple and the two smaller workbenches (25"x48") are beech wood. All tops are 1-3/4 laminated, butcher block type...

More than just adjustable wrenches, post up your vintage Crescent tools

Picked up this Crescent Tool Carpenter's Cutting Pincher p/n 282-8 at the flea market yesterday. This one is in very good shape, maybe unused. OAL is 8" long. Can anyone venture a guess on circa date for a pliers that has a pincher with a screwdriver and nail claw? And yes, that is a hockey...

Is a a 50 year old wood floor inherently more valuable or better than a new one?

Update. Here are a few pictures of the refinished flooring. It's nice and flat! There sure is a lot color variety, due to the mix of white and red oak. The stairs appear to be douglas fir. All floors appear to be original install (circa 1925) and it likely the first time for refinishing. The...

    Oak hardwood oiled look

We are redoing the hardwood floors in our house flooring this week. We are having a third party flooring company do all the sanding, staining and application of the poly. We selected a floor stain and a water based poly floor finish by Bona. Bona Floor Finishes You can check out this GJ...

Is a a 50 year old wood floor inherently more valuable or better than a new one?

It's interesting to me that some folks love wood floors and other folks really hate them!

A few updates on our kitchen flooring. Today, the workers are staining, then three top coats of poly. Closeup view shows floor patching.

Is a a 50 year old wood floor inherently more valuable or better than a new one?

Two months ago, we purchased a house built in 1925, main floor 1200 sq ft, second floor, 900 sq ft and a full basement. It has original 3/4" red oak flooring planks on both floors. The refinishers arrived yesterday. Only one room had ever been refinished. Sadly, there are some pet stains in one...

Would you buy a vise with a bent handle?

A bent handle is fairly common on a used vise. I'd focus more on the jaws and a good visual inspection to look for cracks. Since you're not looking at the vise in person but using photo's, then do the best you can. I always walk away from vises with cracks...but that is just what I do.

Thank you very for taking the time to provide some excellent info on my now favorite bench vise. I own about 50 vises and this Atorn is my favorite for sure! Tausend Dank!

    The VISES of Garage Journal

ATORN 100 Vise, 100 mm (4") Found this little German made fella mixed in with some machinist stuff. Thought it was cool, for $75. It was frozen tight when I got it home, but with a little KROIL, it loosened right up. But it cleaned up nicely in a few hours time. The serrated jaws have this...
