New project for the shop. I would like to somehow shore up the soil to the face of the building under the slab. The fill is roughly 18" in depth. As it sits now, there is fill and soil (and broken up concrete) sloped away from the foundation, unfortunately taking up valuable foot traffic area. I...

I got the doors in finally but can’t seem to get the 8” wide door jamb trim issue resolved. The building had the wrong black. I went to the supplier asked for the correct black and was given a sample of both blacks. I went home and compared and went back to the supplier. I showed them the black...

Unfortunately, the plans are not engineered stamped. The guy used his dad's company program to design.

So to get a engineer to sign off, I would have to hire a structural engineer to come out; I wonder what's the possibility of that and costs. Venture to a guess?

    X Cable Bracing

I had a 30x40x14, w/ a 12' by 40' lean-to, iron metal shop building built ( Chris_P's 30x40x14 Build ) and when the builders erected it, they used cable x bracing on a couple of the walls and in the ceiling. The building is erected and skinned (waiting on rollup doors). I have been told by the...

Too much, but the wife wanted it… It’s a Clopay Model 904 with added higher lift (stronger spring) and hugs the ceiling. Came to just over $5k

Bit the bullet and rented a scissor lift to install the lighting this weekend. Using the Little Giant ladder was wearing me out!

Great night to work on running electrical circuits and just enjoying our building (even if we still don’t have our roll up doors).

Thanks. Yeah that door was my wife’s request. I would like to have some natural light coming through the roof but I detest leaks.
