    Micrometer heatshield insulation.

In some instances, filling an air gap can actually conduct heat. Is there a Mitutoyo forum that may have addressed this issue?

    "How It's Made" Snap-On Episode

I love programs like this. Always interesting to see how things are made. I have spent many years in manufacturing and have built everything from 250KV power supplies to hermetically sealed relays that arm the wing on ordinance on an F16. Love the process!

Can I use these lights in my garage?

After all is said and done, you might just want to get the right fixtures with the right mounting set-up. You may end up spending more time, money and effort trying to cobble these together. Personally, I would never mount lighting fixtures using only sheet rock anchors. I don't the electrical...

Garage floor tire path (track) covering ideas

You could recess the tracks about 3/16" and lay in two strips of clear polycarbonate (Lexan) sheets. Then you'll be able to see the tile through the clear sheet and replace it when it gets too scuffed. It's a bit costly, but it would look cool as hell.

    porcelain in the "ghettolenno" garage

I love that you started the tile in the middle so you'll end up with an even width border around the walls! I used to install ceramic and nowadays see way too many installations where the the room starts with 1 full size tile in the corner. This style looks particularly bad in narrow hallways...

Why do "Dealers" allways ruin "for sale sites"

As a seller on ebay I am astounded at the fees and cost of doing business there. For small items, the fees add up to the point where they actually cut my profit in half! They make as much as I do on some items, and I bear ALL the expense! ebay and Amazon are both double edged swords that seem...

power saw makes bell like noise when cutting. Why?

It's actually betting to have a ringing sound rather than a whine. It means the blade is cutting smooth and clean.

    How fussy is too fussy...

It's annoying. Now, every time you lean something against the building you have to worry about the screws rubbing and eventually poking through. Years ago, I had a guy put ceramic tile in a hallway. He started with a whole tile along one edge, and then trimmed a half tile along the other side...

    RaceDeck & motorcycle stands

Urethane pads are good too because it's so tough. Kickstands and center stands really beat up a floor surface. If you can get the same urethane they use for car suspension bushings, the stuff will have a little bit of grip so the bikes don't slide, and it will forever.

I find myself cringing everytine this happens in a toolbox tour

Well, in another way, this is all pretty cool because so many of these tools come up for sale as "used" but often in perfect condition, and right around the price we'd like to pay for them. Eventually it trickles down.

    Quiet homeowner from Ohio

I went through the whole "buying madness" thing with guitars for several years! Now I am finally in a place where I have some space to set up shop again and look forward to adding several tools and machines! It's starting all over again!

    Torque wrench

That is a good price new. We in the motorcycle biz laugh that "H-D" stands for "hundred dollars."

    10th ANNUAL G.J. SECRET SANTA

I'm still enjoying that apple pie moonshine! "An apple a day......" It has become my evening ritual. 1 shot per day, after dinner. It's almost a cordial!
