From what I've read on this board, it is best to have a leader hose that is steel braided and oil resistant because the pressure coming out of the tank is unregulated and unfiltered. Compressor oil can break down regular air lines.
The other option is to run a regulator and filter right off the...
Just received my 1/2" hydraulic hose that I was buying to use as a lead hose between my compressor tank and copper lines. When I looked at the threaded fitting, the outer diameter is .082", which is fine. But the inner diameter of the fitting is .375"
Is this normal for hydraulic hose? Doesn't...
Thanks to everyone for the opinions. Ive decided to go with copper, partly because I have never done it before and it will be good to learn. I'll start with a small manifold I can afford to build and add to it if I have a problem with too much water in the final filter.
After reading a bunch of info on other threads I'd still like more opinions. I'm planing the plumbing for my compressor and looking at my options. I have never soldered copper tubing before and would like to know if this is a job suited for a virgin? Would this kit be adequate for the job...
I think it's all about the cfm, not psi, and I think the single stage model is probably a better compressor than the entry level 2 stage. Besides, I plan to regulate down to 90 psi for air tools anyways.
I actually considered that one first. The 2 cyl is rated at 19cfm @ 100 psi with motor rpm of 650, while the 3 cyl is rated at 14 cfm @ 100 psi with motor rpm of 850.
That also means less start ups, and longer life. Don't forget, they are all available in verticle or horizontal, so the 80 gallon...
I've considered both those options as well. I was leaning towards the Eaton for the slower running motor, pump and noise factor. Then I started to consider the single stage Eaton. It is only $60 cheaper, so I started to wonder if it may be a better compressor, sort of their top of the line...
Nice to hear. Has anybody ever bought one of their compressors? I'm looking at this one...

It has a Leeson motor, but I don't know who makes the pump. I sent them an email, but haven't heard back.
I was doing a search when I came across this old thread. I thought I'd revive it since I'm looking into the Atlas Air Force AF7...

Anybody use one? Supposed to be American assembled with USA and foreign...
I go back and forth like a ping pong ball. With the 1400 RPM pump and 3450 RPM motor, the BelAire 216v is going to be one loud machine. I already have tennitis and early symptoms of hearing loss from work related noise and live music.
I also found out through my research and on this board, that...
I'v looked into Curtis, Champion, Kellog, Jenny and other quality lines. They all seem to start around $1300 which is out of my budget unless I want to wait until my wife finds a job, which could be a LONG time.
$1000 is about all I can do for the actual compressor and shipping. There are...
I've been strongly considering that one as well. Then I think about how I can get the BelAire 2 stage for the same price, or the Eaton 2 stage for a couple hundred more, then I'm pretty much at the price of a Quincy. Where do you draw the line?
Am I better off with a higher end 2 stage model...
I started considering a Quincy. This is the only model I could afford if I find it on sale...

Is this worth the extra money? It is their bottom of the line.
Also, I discovered that Quincy has been SOLD to a...
Problem is... my budget is really about $1000. Quincy starts about $1300, then I still need starter kit (for extra waranty), water trap, hose, da sander and 220volt wired into my garage. I'm willing to go a little over budget, but I can't go that far.
