Dunlap 1/3 hp lathe motor rebuild

What kind of rebuild are we talking? Is the motor completely shot or are you just wanting to refresh bearings etc? Electric motors are not complicated unless you get into rewinding etc.... On my machine rebuilds I usually take the motors apart and clean them (GUNK makes a specialty electric...

My small but growing DBE wrench collection

Here's my small collection. Found all of these in my grandfather's old house. I've posted some of my finds in the Snap on thread. These are mostly Dunlap, Sears, and Indestro with one Blue Point and a Duohex Superrench (Williams?) Sent from my SM-G950U using The Garage Journal mobile app

Lets make an all vintage Snap-on tool picture thread!

Yeah I can bet most of them were never used by my grandfather. He was not a tool guy and paid to have everything done for him. The tool box was locked and had about three inches of dirt and grime. Could barely tell it was a tool box. I'm surprised the tools were not rusted beyond repair...

Lets make an all vintage Snap-on tool picture thread!

I found a huge tool box full of random wrenches in my grandfather's basement after he passed. No one else in the family wanted them so I've started going through them. Here are the Snap on tools I have found so far. Most of them look too be early to mid 50's. Think there may be a random Blue...

    Lets see your workbench

Yeah I got a good deal on a load of the plywood so every thing in the shop is made using it. Finish is a couple of coats of wipe on poly and wax. Actually holds up better than expected.... Sent from my SM-G950U using The Garage Journal mobile app

    Lets see your workbench

Here are mine. Main work bench, Assembly table/outfeed, and miter station. The assembly table probably sees the most use and I'm still working on my main work area.....trying to get a feel for the space to get a good layout. Sent from my SM-G950U using The Garage Journal mobile app

    Casey's Cavern - 32'x32'x12' with Porch

Just a quick update. I haven't been on here in forever because I have been spending all of my free time working on the garage. The interior is coming along nicely. A/c is in and functioning, lift is in place, all electrical is done, but I still have to insulate and put up the ceiling. I hope...

    Issues with Legacy's HD40?

What is the preferred method for cleaning floors covered in HD40? I've got a lot of construction scuffs etc on mine and want to get it back to a good sheen....

    Issues with Legacy's HD40?

You will need a burnisher for best results.....may also be called a high speed buffer. They turn at about 2000 rpm or so. They are not just a normal floor buffer. I had trouble finding one and ended up driving nearly an hour one way to rent one.

    Issues with Legacy's HD40?

I just used a 20" burnishing machine with 3M Natural Blend Pad 3500, Tan, 20" pads doing multiple perpendicular passes.

    Issues with Legacy's HD40?

I did three coats and did not thin. Prep consisted of pressure washing and scrubbing floor with simple green. Then multiple rinses.

    Issues with Legacy's HD40?

Floors before: After: They looked really good right after burnishing but the luster seems to be fading. They have had lots of construction traffic on them though. I will probably try buffing them once I get the inside finished up to try to get all the scuffs from ladders etc up.

    Casey's Cavern - 32'x32'x12' with Porch

Spent some time making sure my lift placement was what I expected. I've laid out all of my plans for equipment layout in painters tape before I finalize.

    Casey's Cavern - 32'x32'x12' with Porch

It has been a while since I've done some updates. Spent about two months working straight nights so I haven't had much time to make progress. Luckily I had my night shift room functional for most of that time. Siding was finished up and doors were installed last week. The outside is buttoned...
