    Bang from my lift

No! I always set it slowly on the stops. It was maybe 1/2 second after resting on the stops that I heard the bang.

    Bang from my lift

Last week I put my Mustang on my Challenger 9000# 2 post lift and just after I set it on the stops I hear a very loud bang. The car did not move but I put it back down and checked the floor bolts, cables, cylinders, arms, posts everything I could see and I don't have a clue what caused this...

    DIY garage lighting book

I have one of the big box store books but I was looking for something tailored to a pole building. Being a novice, I also don't want to end up with "I should have done this" outcome. Especially, since I intend to use all conduit.

    DIY garage lighting book

I'm looking for a book similiar to the step by step wiring guides found in HD and Lowes but only for garages/pole buildings. I want to do my own electrical but I would like some type of written help for a novice. Of course, I would have my work checked before flipping the power on as I did this...

Found a Used Challenger lift. Got ??????

If you can check the model number on one of the posts, You can print out a manual online at the challenger website. If it is the same challenger lift I purchased at Sam's club auto center (Model 39000) it is a versymmetric lift and it will lift higher than some of the newer lifts. My installer...

    New garage lighting system

Ok, I can see where this would work in my single car garage attached to the house with plaster ceiling and walls. I have two incandescent bulbs that I could replace w/this system. I could install lights the old fashioned way but since I don't use this garage much, I don't want to spend much time...

    Car placement on a lift

I must be the only one doubting myself since I could not find any posts on car placement on a 2 post lift. I think this would be for symmetrical and versymmetrical lifts (I have a Challenger versym. ). When lifting a wider vehicle or something with a short wheel base, the front arms are too long...

Interesting idea for a garage heater

They do offer a free at home demonstration. I was thinking it would be nice for someone that only used the garage on the weekend or for constrution sites. Biggest problem I see is the size and the cost. $450 - $650.

Where did you locate your 2 post asymmetrical car lift?

I have a versymmetical lift so placement will be somewhat different than asymmetrical lift. Your lift manual should give you some indication of placement. I have limited room on the right side of the lift to keep the one post away from the floor expansion joint. If I moved the lift to gain more...

    Replacement for mercury vapor light

I didn't realize HD has reviews of the products sold and although there are only 2 reviews so far, they have rated them poor for the reasons ranger dood pointed out. Sorry I didn't see that sooner.

Interesting idea for a garage heater

I went to a local home and garden show today and some guy had a unit called a Heat Monster. He takes a torpedo heater and builds a galvanized box that looks like a forced air unit. Inside the box is a metal duct (6 or 8" diameter) wound around to create a heat exchanger. One end of the duct...

Where did you locate your 2 post asymmetrical car lift?

I put my lift in the middle of my right bay with my bench at the back of the garage. I wanted good room on both ends since the door is closed half the year because of the weather in NE OH. The bench is in the same bay as the lift for ease of use and to allow 2 cars parked end to end in the left...
