Bang from my lift

Last week I put my Mustang on my Challenger 9000# 2 post lift and just after I set it on the stops I hear a very loud bang. The car did not move but I put it back down and checked the floor bolts, cables, cylinders, arms, posts everything I could see and I don't have a clue what caused this noise. Has anyone had a similiar situation? I've used this lift for 5 years and never heard anything this scary. I want to be sure I don't have a problem before I use it again.

I'm betting it was sitting on the stop on one side, and it equalized and hit the stop on the other.

I was lifing my Caravan once and the rear lift pad caught the very edge of the rear leaf spring before hitting the lift pad on the frame and once the weight was on the lift arm the lift pad popped off the leaf spring and made a very loud band sound. I have a Challenger 9000# two post too and can't think of anything that would make a bang noise other than an arm or stop breaking or the vehiclel it self shifting on the lift pads.

I've had this happen too when the pad slips. On occasion it doesn't like the high spot that you've put the pad on and slips into a better position. Basically just settling.
