220 ft run for 100 AMP service

Again, you are quoting NEC, so the correct statement would be "In the USA, #2 AL is only good for 90A." However, I am in Canada, where the ESA (Electrical Safety Authority) Rules the land, and around here ESA has A 100A rating on ACWU90 2AWG wire.. Also, our code also permits 3 (full size, no...

220 ft run for 100 AMP service

Why exactly would you need to run a 4 wire feeder to a shop or garage? That may be the difference in code between here and US. We run 3 wire to a detached building, and use a grounding plate at the building for ground. (Also, I did make a mistake in wire, they were going to use 4AWG Copper, but...

220 ft run for 100 AMP service

I recently ran into this with my build, obviously your wire would be a little different being in the US, but it will give you an idea. I ran 100amp service 360' from Panel to Panel. Ran a 200A panel in the shop (as it is limited by the main panel breaker anyways), 3/0 aluminum direct burial...

    Direct bury wire question

When you replaced the sockets, did you replace the bulbs as well? With the way the bulbs are mounted I would not be surprised if there is moisture in a bulb that is causing the breaker to trip.

Talk to mee about this plug.

Do you have a multimeter? Check if there is continuity between 2 and 5 on the motor. If there is, it is wired for 240V, if not 120V. The wiring does look like it is wired for 120V, however the yellow plug is definitely a 240V plug. The person you purchased this from could have wired their shop...

Talk to mee about this plug.

Whhhaat? The Yellow Plug is a 240V 6-20P that you have in your hand. The Receptacle is a 120V 5-20R (Essentially a standard receptacle that is capable of carrying a 20A load when using the proper 5-20P plug) The plug and receptacle are not compatible with one another.

    Home Backup Generator Wiring Question

This is 100% right. The general rule is if the generators neutral is not bonded to earth (EGC) you can get away without switching the neutral. If the generator has a floating neutral (which most newer 120/240V gensets do, because the manufacturer of most gensets is also the manufacturer of the...

That is fantastic value for lights and fan. I wish I saw those Home Depot fans before I purchased my unit. I got a quote for a "Big *** Fan" High Velocity, Low Speed fan and I almost had a heart attack.

A friend from Baton Rouge sent me these pics during the flood... nope nope nope

IF you look at the top of the circuit breakers to the left of him, none of them are connected, the only live wire is the one that he is accessing with his lineman stick, which is fiberglass and fully insulated and tested for that voltage.

Ontario Electrical code for running 100amp Service?

Does 2/0 seem like the right size though? What is the acceptable voltage drop to a secondary building in Ontario? Do I measure total length from the meter, the road or just the breaker box? Thanks!
