Yeah it's rock solid now. The hole through the wall is very tight with the pipe. I think if the frost heaves it up it will split the pipe at that 90 up top.

While I'm at it, should he ground it to the grounding point in the picture, or is there no need for it to be grounded.

So my buddy just finished up with a gas line project. I told him he needs a swing joint but I don't know how he would do it. He has 3/4" black pipe, the underground sealed inside pvc pipe. The exposed part is in the pic. Where it has a 90 at the top and goes through the wall, the inside is just...
Thanks for the clarification. The 4" pipe inside the thimble (6" pipe) is that airspace your referring to? So the wood paneling, insulation, and osb can be touching the outside of the thimble, or I need space around that?

I'm going horizontal through a wall. And isn't the thimble the "pipe in a pipe?" It's essentially a 4" pipe going through a 6" pipe. I'm just trying to figure out what clearances are needed from the thimble to everything else.

In the middle of installing my beacon morris 45k btu garage heater. I'm horizontally venting with 4" cat iii pipe. Just making sure I get the wall thimble correct. It says on the sticker that it needs 8" clearance to combustibles. Essentially it's a 4" pipe going through a 6" pipe(thimble) so...
Yes it has 24v. The common wire is what was confusing me. So a simple dial thermostat would just use the red and white, but I need the common in addition to actually power the thermostat. Thanks for your help.

I'm currently installing a beacon morris 45k btu heater in my garage. I also bought a Honeywell digital programmable thermostat to go with it. The beacon morris guy told me I only need 2 wire(red and white only) thermostat wire, but I think I need more than that for this to work. Menards sells...
