Nest Cam & Self Monitored Security

Re: Nest Cam & Self Monitored Security I'm using a Dahua NVR for storage, so its all self contained and has its own software and interface. I've also played with the free SmartPSS software that Dahua offers, and I've been using that for searching footage and exporting video files, as its more...

    Storing Nuts and Bolts ?

A local electronics store bought out another store a few months back and once they were done cataloging all the stuff they got, they sold all of the old Equipto Card file cabinets that the parts arrived in. I was able to snag 6 of them that were in decent condition. They aren't all the same...

Nest Cam & Self Monitored Security

Re: Nest Cam & Self Monitored Security I went with an IP based camera system that uses POE. 1 Ethernet cable to each camera. (Which gives me 300+ feet to work with on each camera run if needed) All of my cameras are 3MP with good night vision, and aluminum outdoor rated housings that mount...

Retractable/Hinged Casters on large table, any ideas?

I've used a pair of trailer jacks and heavy duty casters and it works fantastic. More info and a photo of the basic structure here: http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showpost.php?p=3911160&postcount=85

    The Heavy Bench

I built a welding table a while back with a 3x6 piece of 5/8" plate. I ended up using a pair of trailer jacks to facilitate moving it around when necessary. I welded a t-bar on the bottom of the trailer jack with the casters welded on to the bar at the ends. (One end fixed, the other end...

    Any Vinyl Decal Experts here?

Not to disagree with folks, but any competent Vinyl Shop should be able to do what you want and apply it to your wall for you. There are a good number of specialty materials that are designed to adhere to rough surfaces like Brick and concrete. I'm not affiliated with any of these companies...

    Show off your lifts!!!

If you totally ignore the mess in the picture, I've got a Gemini GR-12-L in there. Its rated at 12,000 lbs, and its the long version with 16' Tracks. (Most of my toys are long and heavy.) It lifts the '37 Ford pickup that's sitting on it in the photo like its not even there. :)

    OFFICIAL THREAD: Genius Storage Ideas

My racking is not bolted down and its worked just fine. To be fair, I'm also not loading and unloading it with a forklift every day, so there is really no chance of me slamming it around in any major way. These things are pretty heavy, and once you get them assembled, they really don't go...

    The Flying A

I don't have any Flying A signs, but when I was tearing out the dash of a car I was restoring, I managed to find a "Tidewater Oil Company" credit card from the community that used to own my car. The card expired in '63 and the car is a '60, which seems to indicate where the car was first in...

Any cool options for outside keypads?

I've had biometric locks on my garage man doors for a while and they were nothing but trouble. Errors, not reading the fingerprints correctly, condensation, etc. The company kept insisting that it was a problem with how I was using it and not with the lock itself and refused to even look at...

Lighting for 30x72x12...low bay or flo's?

Charles, I managed to paste in the High Bay lighting info, but those folks make a low bay version as well, and I'm guessing its probably right around the same cost per fixture. :) I do realize that wattage on the CFL's is still a significant number. That's a good part of why I'm asking folks...
