Costco Feit LED shop lights- $20 ea

I did 20 in a 25x35x10. I have a couple other lights too... 100 lumens per square foot is recommended for workshops. With 8 lights you'd be just under 25 lumens per square foot.

Costco Feit LED shop lights- $20 ea

I have yet to insulate my garage. One morning I could easily see my breath out there, and they kicked on instantly, no issues.

I thought about doing that. The main reason I didn't do that was time. It would take a fair bit of time to re-wire 20 of these things, then I'd still need to buy the raceway, and I'd need to buy 20 of the plugs, which would be ~$40. The raceway I found seems like it should work, it just takes...

Do you have a link? I'm trying out this from Amazon. You can also get it at Home Depot and Lowes. It's a very tight fit since I only have ~20 inches between each light and I'm trying to cram in 4' worth of cord. But so far it seems to work, there's just a process to getting it all to fit. I...

If I had lower ceilings I would have just used the pull chains to turn them on and off, but my ceilings are about 10' and I'd need really long chains dangling everywhere.

Thanks. Yeah, the outlets are really decent for the price, but they could be a lot smaller/slimmer. I took one apart and there really isn't a whole lot inside, it's very compact. I might eventually remove just the module and wire it in-line with the plug or something fancy, but they're fine...

I finally installed my Costco LED shop lights, and made a video of it

Hey everyone. I bought 20 of the 4' LED shop lights from Costco back in December and finally got around to installing them. The layout isn't ideal, but it worked better than I thought. I also added some wireless outlet switches, so I can control banks of lights independently. I'm a YouTuber...

Costco Feit LED shop lights- $20 ea

FYI, check with your local utility! I just got off the phone with mine. They have a rebate for LED bulbs and these are eligible for the program. The rebate is 50% off for any bulb over 500 lumens! So that means each 4' fixture will only end up costing about $10 after the Costco sale and the...

wireless lighting control for security lighting

I put a WeMo light switch on my outside lights and have them controlled automatically through the app. They come on at sunset and turn off at sunrise. But you could easily make custom rules for them, have them come on automatically, control them remotely, or set them up through IFTTT for other...

    poor performance from Samsung mini-split

UPDATE: I crawled up in the attic. Good news and bad news. Good news (in a way), there's no insulation in the attic. That means I can add some insulation and get much better heating. The bad news is there's a TON of stuff up there from the previous owners. Lots of wood scraps, I think the...

Just get them online, it's the same price and if you have a costco account, you can use that at checkout and the only difference is shipping.

    poor performance from Samsung mini-split

The mini-split just got a brand new 240V breaker, with new wiring. So, I would just tie into that. The wiring should be adequate. In the summer I was doing the same thing, just turning it on when I needed it. I never really used it to maintain a temperature. When it gets warm again, I'll...

Costco Feit LED shop lights- $20 ea

That's actually not too bad. For $30, it might be worth a shot, it at least saves me from getting up an a step stool or ladder to turn on and off lights... I could separate the garage down 2/3, with 12 of the lights on one side (where I primarily work) and the other 8 on the opposite side. I...

    poor performance from Samsung mini-split

Unfortunately, I'm not sure on any of these. I didn't build the house, so I'm just not sure. The garage doors are insulated, I just don't know the R value. I haven't looked up in the attic yet, but I can certainly add more insulation. That would probably be my first step. Yeah, I think...

Costco Feit LED shop lights- $20 ea

Ah OK. That's what I was planning. Ideally, if I could control each one with an app, that would be great, but that's not going to happen. I'll most likely do a line of outlets near the middle of the garage, and gang them out from there. SO, a row of 4 duplex receptacles in the middle of the...
