Iyeah that's frustrating for sure. That said, Ive switched all of my woodworking projects to metric dimensions in the last year. Finding it much more pleasant to measure things out in millimeters and easier to remember too. Other than construction not sure what industries are using english units...

I usually reach for what's closest. I've broken a few chrome cheapies but it's usually not a big deal.

10" is an odd size to me but I'd imagine you could find an adapter pretty easily. In a pinch you could build a box and until 10" in one side and 6" in the other. Not ideal though.

Ugh. Walked in and looked at everything I need to get rid of. But the city trash disposal won't take it all at once so I have to mete it out a bit a week.

I prefer the plastic snap traps from a grocery store like Publix. They seem reliable and I've had more success than with the wire bait area traps.
