Snap On Epiq series tool box problems

It sounds like people are trying to excuse what is obviously an issue with the box just because it is from Snap-On. You paid $10k and so it should be perfect! If you bought a $5k car and it didn't go in reverse without jumping around you would take it back to the vendor so why not with a more...

Auto Battery Blew Up in Shop Today

One of the common causes of exploding a battery is when jumping, people put the jump leads direct to the battery. You should always connect the negative lead to an earth point away from the battery so that any sparks caused by connecting/disconnecting the negative lead won't ignite any gas...

    Dewalt DWE315KT Oscillating Multi-Tool

The Dewalt also takes standard Bosch and Fein allen bolt blades too. I really just wanted to know if there are issues with power, specifically if the proportional trigger is better or worse.

I have been looking at the Bosch and Fein but the Dewalt quick change blades look good.

    Dewalt DWE315KT Oscillating Multi-Tool

I'm thinking about investing in an oscillating tool to help with wooden boat restoration. I'm quite interested in the new Dewalt DWE315KT. http://www.toolstop.co.uk/dewalt-dwe315kt-oscillating-multi-tool-with-quick-change-tool-release-in-tstak-ca-p66958 Does anyone have any experience of this...

Refrigerant sniffer, anyone got a recommendation?

I served my apprenticeship on refrigerated ships. We had huge plants chilling brine to chill the cargo holds. The company supplied all the latest electronic detectors but the Frosty (what we called the refrigeration officer) was old school and preferred to use a gas torch with a rubber hose...

Best tool box for a diesel mechanic in a service truck?

I am a Marine Diesel engineer. I prefer to use wheeled plastic boxes in the van which I fill before I leave the workshop. Sometimes I get to a Harbour or Marina and the boat is quarter of a mile from the nearest parking lot for the van. With a wheeled plastic box I can take what I need from my...

    Broken Trusty DeadBlow Ball Peen

You don't use the pein on a chisel or a punch. I have deadblow hammers which I use, especially for assembly/disassembly but I think paying the money for steel faced ones is unrequired.

    Broken Trusty DeadBlow Ball Peen

I don't really understand the need for a deadblow ball pein? If your using the pein it will usually be in an operation where a bit of bounce will make the job easier such as popping out gaskets on a flange or shaping metal. Save your self money and buy a good old fashioned wooden handled hammer...

vasseline or LPS 3 if wd40 is not doing the job. As above though your going to need to address the moisture issue to really stop the problem.

What's the best way to learn mechanics

As said before just start out by taking stuff apart and try and figure out how it works then rebuild it. One big tip that will save you hours of trouble: Take Photos! If you take photos of what you are doing at every stage you will have an easily referable record of how everything goes back...

    Poor mans Snap on Adjustable

The Snap-On is a re-brand of the Bahco, Bahco is the original and best. You would be crazy to spend more on the Snap-On when the Bahco is made in the same factory by the same people and is effectively the same wrench.
