I'm trying to find out how to remove the handle on a reed 405 vise. Any one happen to know how to get the round ends off the bar?

I came across a Reed 405 vise I was able to pick it up for $50. I cleaned a lot of the old rust and grime off of it. I'm replacing the Irwin record vise I currently have. I'm new to this so not real sure on the worth of the vise but I've tore it mostly apart but having trouble with the handle...
