Milwaukee Circular Saw MOSFET Failure- Need Replacement

Your failure was likely caused by a short, but its hard to know for sure. Either mosfet you linked will work just fine(assuming the rest of the circuit is ok). My biggest concern would be that basically every semiconductor on that board is dead. The little transistors on there are likely...

    Power taping with drill press

https://www.mscdirect.com/product/details/03734803 For rigid tapping I prefer these, they hold the squares on the tap so if its spinning, you broke it. Just hunt down the right size for your tap, they don't like to label these in a particularly straight forward manner

    Now THESE are TOOLS!

I worked with springs of that size on control valves for steam turbines. It was a bit scary the first time we tore down the housing and we didn't know if it would try flying or not.

Cheap Chinese metal lathes. The real story?

There are two companies in the US manufacturing small lathes very specifically for hobbyists. Taig and Sherline My first lathe was a Taig, I then went to the bigger 7x18 from micromark. My mill is a grizzly 0704. All 3 have been great starter tools that I've been able to learn on and make...

    Lowes Blows!

If you go to the webpage you linked and actually read it you'll see that: Unless OP can prove when he purchased the tape 2 years ago it was a lifetime guarantee, he's shouting about nothing and lowe's was already overly kind in attempting to replace the tape measure for him.

ID Challenge for you old car geeks

Recently my grandfather managed to track down a photo for me of my great grandfather and the car that he built in the 20's. This picture was taken in 1926 and I'm trying to find out if anyone knows anything about the car(s) that may have been used to make this. Unfortunately this is the only...

Who the heck would SCRAP THIS??? Oh well, mine now!

It's home made. The aluminum extrusion is similar to 8020(and probably made by the same company). Think of it as an industrial strength erector set.

    Workbench Height

One of the tricks I found for a general purpose workbench height is to wear the shoes you'll normally wear when working, stand up straight and measure to the top of your belt at your side. Depending on the sort of stuff you're working on(delicate stuff higher, bulky stuff lower) you may need to...

Upgrade for these old garage lights?

Keep using your spare parts till you run out then start replacing with T8s or even better T5HO. T12 is getting harder to find, and at this point there doesn't seem to be much of any price difference to go to T8.

    Micrometer Recommendations

Starett. Taken care of it will outlast you and a few of your descendents.

    Micrometer Recommendations

A cheapie chinese import will work for you but this is garage journal so that's no good. mitutoyo is a favorite for higher end budget option usually japanese made, but sometimes chinese if that makes a difference to you. USA standard is Starett and what most machinists will trust.

    18th birthday suggestions.

Torque Wrench. Something nice, if he takes care of it should have it the rest of his life. If he's going to get serious working on the supra he's going to eventually be doing some engine work and will need it.
