    DIY High Lift Door Questions

My garage door installer got the track kits from a 12' door for the 10' tall doors I have. He combined that with the standard 10' spring. Garage doors are like Legos. There are not that many parts, they just get put together in different ways.

    Prepping for garage HVAC

I used small foam blocks to keep an air gap between the door and the foam board. The air gap significantly increase the effective R-value. This is pretty important because adding additional weight can cause issues with the spring.

Buying a rough Challenger E10 stored outside.

I would not buy a lift on the ground. I would only buy a lift that you can try out and either take apart yourself, or pay a company to take it apart and move it. I cannot imagine trying to figure out what is missing from a pile of parts. I think they best post is: Do you want a project...

Amazon WiFi Smart Thermostat - Questions??

Because if you can get your Ring to arm when the thermostat recognizes that you are away and disarm when you return your life gets just a little bit cooler. I had that through IFFT until there was some fight between Nest and someone and now that functionality went away. I might look into a...

    CLEANEST shop?

I have felt pads under my freshly painted pallet racks. But, I am moving in very slow in an effort to keep things clean. Right now, my storage stuff is pretty empty or still being built.

Coval Concrete in Satin after Formula 137 failure

I will admit that running a buffer with a diamond impregnated polishing pad is significantly more of a workout than polishing wax on VCT. There may have been some beers drank, but not while running the buffer for sure. 😂

Coval Concrete in Satin after Formula 137 failure

This is interesting. I noticed that applying the Coval Concrete created a texture. I wonder if that is part of how it changes the gloss to satin/mat. So far so good on the slipperiness. Short update, I spilled Alkyd paint on the coating. A lot. It cleaned up easily with water. No...

Coval Concrete in Satin after Formula 137 failure

You do not need to do that. You can put Coval on plain trowel finished concrete. I had to remove the Formula 137 to get the Coval to stick (allegedly, it probably would have stuck to the 137). I spent hundreds of hours in the Marine Corps running a buffer polishing VCT for Uncle Sam. When...

Coval Concrete in Satin after Formula 137 failure

Did you use the gloss or the satin or matt? My concrete was very slick before I applied the spray, but it gained texture after it was applied. I am not sure if some of that will wear or not. RIght now, it is no concern even in wet crocs. 😁

Coval Concrete in Satin after Formula 137 failure

I will continue to tell anyone that will listen. Penetrating sealers do not work. They all use words like resist, repel, reduce. You need something that uses the word proof. I had to grind the 137 off because it was completely ineffective at proofing my garage from oil, but would proof my...

Coval Concrete in Satin after Formula 137 failure

Buckle up this has been 3 years in the making. This floor took on a life of it’s own. Here is my experience with Coval Concrete and a number of other products. The start: back in Sept 2022 I had my pad poured. After waiting 30 days, I applied Legacy Industrial Formula 137...

Recommendations for Concrete Sealer for Driveway

Funny thing. I missed this part in your first post. Whatever you choose, know this. Formula 137 will not protect your driveway from oil drippings. No matter what any vendor on this site says, 137 will not do this.

Recommendations for Concrete Sealer for Driveway

I've been down this path. 137 will not go very far on untreated brushed concrete. It will be all but gone within 3 years and at $100 per gallon, you will go broke. Start with a densifier. After you densify, there will not be much need for a 2 in 1. Then you can save a lot of money on the...

Sealer application with sprayer - how to not overdo it?

Densifier creates a chemical reaction with the lime in the concrete. The result is calcium silicate hydrate that fills the pores and hardens the concrete as deep as you can get the densifier to soak in. The chemical reaction does not care what the surface finish it. Have you ever seen a...

    10x14 panel door pricing (current)

Yikes! I had 3 10'x10' insulated doors installed for less than 10K. Find an independent operator. You are probably talking to a garage door company that was bought out by private equity and has doubled the prices of everything to double the profit.
