I have a Ring security system in our house and I see this thermostat states it works with Ring.
Does that mean I don't have to utilize the Alexa stuff??
We have no Alexa devices and want to keep it that way, but I want to get WIFI control of my thermostat.
Simple controls, daily schedule & remote monitoring / control.

Also This will work in a heat only application correct?
No central air in this 1860's farm house.

I'm not sure what you are asking? No you don't have to use Alexa, it is just Alexa compatible so you could tell Alexa to turn up the heat and it would happen but you don't have to do that.

I also am not sure what is meant by it works with Ring? Maybe they use the same APP?

Yes it will work with your heat only system.

Been playing with my Ring App since I posted this question and see where it will "Link" to Alexa (Amazon) & Resideo (Honeywell) thermostats. Figuring out the "link" will be the key.

I wasn't sure what I was asking either....;)

I really don't totally know why you would need to link them. Maybe if you have full control in a single app that is nice? I get into my thermostat app almost never.

Mostly it would be so that my wife would not have to utilize another app. By linking them we can utilize the Ring app which we have come accustom to using already.

With the furnace issues I have recently experienced, I want to be notified of a No heat condition & also be able to warm things up before we return from an extended time away.

Note If you find you need /want Alexa to setup or operate the thermostat installing the Alexa app on your phone should do everything an Alexa device can do.

Because if you can get your Ring to arm when the thermostat recognizes that you are away and disarm when you return your life gets just a little bit cooler.

I had that through IFFT until there was some fight between Nest and someone and now that functionality went away. I might look into a Amazon Thermostat because it should surely integrate with my Blink.
