What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Today in the garage I wheeled in two free scores from the house next door. Long story short, the previous tenant living there was arrested for attempting to do some ... unsavory things with an underage girl. The owners of the house were there over the weekend, along with the previous tenant's...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Not today, but yesterday, continued work on my brother's Mountaineer with the dreaded 4.0L V6. Some backstory: While we planned on removing the transmission (as required to access the rear timing cassette), the transmission in his truck showed no issues. However, in the weeks leading up to us...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

This morning before work, got the Focus up on jack stands and ran the ABS bleeding procedure from Forscan. Everything went without a hitch, except the LF brake line had a huge amount of air in it that would not bleed out. Thanks to my laptop being old and rarely used these days, a Windows update...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

On Saturday, I brought my 2012 Focus into the garage to remove the ABS pump/module assembly in order to install my new (used) module purchased from eBay. Shout out to Ford for shoving this bulky mess way up under the wiper cowl, making it a royal PITA to access with barely any room to get a...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I was wondering about this approach as a few others I've spoken with have said this same thing, but I don't have a shop crane or engine stand to hold it while we do the work. If bought from Harbor Freight, it would be ~$500 for the required tools, and then storing them afterwards (not a major...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Not today, but earlier this week, my brother had his 2007 Mountaineer towed down to my house for some major repairs it needs. It has the dreaded 4.0 V6 with the timing "cassettes" in the front and rear of the engine, and he wants to replace them. To get to the bolt holding the rear cassette in...

POE cameras in a detached garage

I would say yes, assuming that your existing CAT 6 cable is within the 100m distance guidelines, and the cameras are rated for standard PoE and don't need PoE+ or higher. Sounds like you've got everything you would need, but I'm not a PoE guru so others may say differently.

    A/C condenser short-cycling while hot

I'm gonna keep this in mind and check the usage history after a few days and see what I find. I'll chalk this one up to a hiccup - the Nest has been nearly flawless since we installed it ~2 years ago. My SO really, really likes it, but I already set the expectation that the Nest will be replaced...

    A/C condenser short-cycling while hot

Well I thought I'd drop back in and wrap this thread up, apologies for the delay and happy father's day to all the dads on here. I have good news to report: the factory reset of the thermostat did the trick! The AC ran all weekend while we had our guests here and the unit cooled great with no...

    A/C condenser short-cycling while hot

I’ll try and get a video of it tomorrow and post it here, maybe that will help.

    A/C condenser short-cycling while hot

Nothing else to the story, in the original post I wrote right after that, that after doing that cycle of start-run for 5 seconds-shut down-start again about three times, the unit would start and run for about 5-10 minutes before repeating the process over again.

    A/C condenser short-cycling while hot

I’ll try this tomorrow since ill be working from home. I went ahead and did a factory reset on the nest thermostat tonight to see if that makes any difference. I’ll report back in tomorrow with what I find.

    A/C condenser short-cycling while hot

Thank you Pete, the auto reset high pressure switch behavior, could it be that the system is building too much high side pressure while its running during the hot part of the day and the system is shutting down to wait for lower pressure, and then keeps trying to turn on until the pressure is...

    Replacement blower motor?

I know they're not directly related, but if its the same Dayton company that makes speakers/amplifiers, I've heard very good things about their quality in audio equipment. I've never heard of Centry motor but maybe others have.
