    welding marks from ground clamp

I’ve noticed that happens sometimes when the clamp is on there kind of loose, small gap that arcs from the clamp to the weldment. The clamp and metal surface should both be nice and clean and check to see that the bolt connecting the lead to the clamp is tight.

2024 Garage Sale Thread (13th Annual)

I scored this matco mid box for $20, which is a good find by itself but what made it exciting was that I already have a chest and top box that is the same series. It needs paint and all the boxes are due for a good cleaning and lube but I’m pretty happy about it. Got it in there and it filled up...

SHOW OFF YOUR VINTAGE METAL CANS AND CONTAINERS!! oil, gas, ointments, and just cans

Picked up these piggy banks a couple weeks ago for $5. One has some change in it and I thought about filling it up but the only way to get it out would be to cut it open.

    Welding Stainless Muffler

You can weld it with the set up you described it’s just going to rust where you weld it and the area around the weld that will become contaminated.

Saw this laid over in the dirt at a friends house and asked how much he wanted for it. He said if you can get it out of here you can have it. So I borrowed a tractor and loaded it up, very happy about this addition. You can see the green growth where it was laying in the weeds. This thing...

Nope, other trimmings were eventually added to the pile and the only thing I ever saw growing was mold and regular grass. I was curious too and looked often.

Moved the carport down by the shop, which is a much better spot. Still some room on the side for trailers. I used it for parking at first but it’s actual purpose ended up being a spot for the kids to play in the shade or out of the rain.

When I bought the place it had this 24x20 carport set up between the house and garage. It was on a downhill slope and its location didn’t make much sense. So I took it apart and gave the area a once over.

I don’t even know at this point, I’ve owned it for 19 years. Bought the chassis and body completely torn apart for $400 and then assembled it, threw an engine and trans in so I could drive it and then just parked it. It’s been sitting ever since, following me whenever I move. And thanks!

I don’t think I mentioned the main reason for building the restroom out of steel was fire risk, I’ve seen some close calls in other shops and I’m trying to keep everything metal. The restroom still isn’t done but I added a little sign that I found in an old airstream trailer I picked up a few...

Are the Costco Stainless Tool Boxes still a great deal compared to other options on the market?

If a magnet will stick to the stainless it sounds like it could work.

I put two of my racks on top of the restroom and bolted them down with some 3/8” hardware. The one in the corner fits nicely against the wall. Bolted them down and then proceeded to load them down. These two racks were set up on the floor together basically making them 3 racks long. I’m...

For now I am going to pause on the bathroom to work on straightening up the shop and trying to finish up some vehicular projects. I was able to get the lid fully welded to the frame, it went on surprisingly smooth. I had to trim the tail panel some to fit the cabinets clean. I slid the walls...

I took the bed off and stood it upright to clean the underside. Wire wheeled the loose rust and crud then prepped for welding. The old long sill just kind of floats now, it could have been removed completely. I made these 7/8” spacers. And welded them on to catch the old long sill in 4...
