Closing in and insulating a pole building

Here is what I did to my Morton building. I followed all of their recommendations for finish out. There is about 16 inches of blown in insulation in the attic that I put in and the insulation in the walls was installed by Morton. Keeps it warm in the winter but it's a struggle to keep it cool...

Doesn't take long to heat up my old shop with this. Used to have a 55K Redi Heater.

    Show us your welding projects

I've got a 1-3/4" tube mated into a receiver welded under the steel plate so will support any pounding that I need to do. Only drawback is if I have to torque something really hard, I worry about the wheels holding the cart in place. That would have been one of the advantages of mounting it to...

    Show us your welding projects

This one is not quite as fancy as some of the others posted here but it serves my purpose. Also working on the skeleton of my remodeled outdoor kitchen.

    Lets see your workbench

Thanks Fisherguy. It's my dream shop so won't be moving from this place anytime soon. It's a hell of a good place to hang out by myself when my wife and two daughters are "sync'd up".

    Central Texas 36x64 Morton Build

Thanks for the compliments. Here is a recent picture of my Dad's shop in northern North Dakota. It's 45 years old and still looks new on the inside. He was the envy of the neighborhood when he built it. One side was insulated with a furnace and the other had a gravel floor where we parked all...

    Central Texas 36x64 Morton Build

Yes I thought about walling off the lounge area but wanted to keep it open so I could watch tv or listen to music while working at the bench or on a project. When I need to cut some lumber or make a mess I can take it outside and do it so it doesn't get so messy inside. I've also got another...

    Lets see your workbench

Another Steve-O inspired work bench. I love it, lots of room to work and lots of tool storage. https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=6619&pictureid=89719

Thanks Duker. I love the Morton building and glad I built it. It's a great place to escape to when my wife and two daughters get to be more than I can handle. Did you see the pictures on the Morton site of the knock off of the workbench that SteveO did as well as the one you did. Works...

    Central Texas 36x64 Morton Build

Steve, For the walls, I had Morton install their insulation, which I think is R13, that fits between the wood columns perfectly. For the ceiling, I blew in 18" of fiberglass insulation. I also have insulated doors. I bought the Mr. Cool 36k BTU ductless mini split that I wired and installed...

    Central Texas 36x64 Morton Build

Yes, I bought 12 of the lights from the link that I posted before. I installed 2 rows of 5 lights in the main work area and two of them in the "lounge" area. I've had several comments of "Damn, you have to wear sunglasses when you work in here?" Plenty of light. I couldn't imagine how bright...

    Central Texas 36x64 Morton Build

I kinda went silent for several months while I was working on finishing out the inside. The Morton photographer called and said they wanted to take some pictures and put it on their website so here is the link. https://mortonbuildings.com/project/4531 As with any shop, there is always...

MrCool 36k mini split wall penetration

Because of the way my metal building is constructed, there is a 6 inch gap between the sheetrock on the inside and the metal on the outside. This area is filled with insulation. This is the area where I can roll up and store the additional lineset.

MrCool 36k mini split wall penetration

I am finishing up the sheetrock work in my 36x64 Morton building and am planning out the install of my soon-to-be purchased MrCool 36k ductless minisplit. It pains me to have to cut a hole in the wall to run the lineset and associated lines through but I know it has to be done. I don't need...
