A different way to store a truck cap

It's a '96 Chevy Silverado with about 96K miles. Because it's an early X-cab, it doesn't have a 3rd door. And, as I said in my original post, I didn't want to use a hoist (several reasons...), so I decided to post this idea for others who were in the same situation.

A different way to store a truck cap

I thought about doing that, but I was worried that it might not be stable enough if someone (probably me...) bumped into it. Looking back, I could have rotated the sagging 2x4 and inserted one of the 8' ones close to it if need be...

A different way to store a truck cap

Disclaimer: This may have been done before. I searched and couldn't find anything. If someone else has posted this idea, please accept my apologies! So, I needed to remove the cap/topper from my pickup for a few weeks. I had considered rigging up a hoist, but I decided that it wasn't the best...

    Clopay vs Raynor

This could well be my situation. Our home was built in '99 and we bought it in 2004... and the doors and openers came with it. This is one of the openers: And these are the controls. The 'hard-wired' controls are so unreliable that we ended up mounting a remote on the wall so we didn't have...

    Wobble extensions

Received a set of 4 (Snap-on) as a Christmas gift back in the late '80s. I've used the heck out of them ever since. If you're dealing with a nut/bolt that's only a bit hard-to-reach, they're sooooo much better than a universal-joint extension.

    Clopay vs Raynor

I've had 6 Raynor doors over time. They're good products and seem to seal well. Raynor's openers are another story. I've had numerous problems with the motors and switchgear. I'd say that gygeneral made the right choice going with the Liftmaster 3800s. I've had two Liftmaster openers and have...

    New guy from Southern Ohio

I kicked around a couple of ways of doing this. Finally decided to just create a Photobucket album. If you click on the individual pics, you'll see that I've added titles describing the cars and a bit of information on each one in the 'comments' section...

Need a new garage door opener

I second the Chamberlain vote. I have two of them and have had ZERO problems. The same certainly can't be said for the RAYNOR openers on the doors of my attached garage... I thought I'd seen poor switchgear, but both the wall mounted switches and the remotes are just pitiful! Edit: One more...

    New guy from Southern Ohio

Just a few miles NE of Ironton.... out in the country! At one time, I had a little website for my cars/garage, but it got caught-up in one of Yahoo's updates and the on-line data was lost (despite what they promised to the contrary...). I still have all the photos, but I'll have to re-create...

    New guy from Southern Ohio

Hi all Just a quick note to introduce myself. I'm another old guy with too many cars... I'll probably have some questions after I spend a bit of time finding my way around the site and reading some posts. Dave B.
