I know this is not new to many of you on this board, but they are new to me.

Today i discovered a new tool. Wobble extensions. These are socket extesions that allow you to slighly angle the extension in the socket. Helps you use a socket (in my case a spark plug socket) when you can't exactly get a straight shot to whatever you are trying to turn.

With several of these, and a universal joint, and a little creativity, you can get at just about any place you need to put a socket. Including the #3 cylinder on my Honda 919, which is really fricken hard to get to.

Don't know how I got by without these in the past. Wonderful invention.

A whole set of them in various sizes and lengths were $12 at HF.

I was gifted a 3/8" by 3" and a 3/8" by 1 " SnapOn set about 1980. I tend to use the wobblie on virtually every socket. Someday I'll buy more.

I have that set. Haven't found a use, yet. Although I'm sure the beretta I'm going.to be getting will challenge that. Do you know the make flex extentions? Can bend them things 180°. They're a spring type looking deal.

Used them ever since Snap on came out with them. Early 80s? Late 70s? Very useful

Don't use them very often, but they are handy for some jobs. I've had a couple of them since about 1981.

I picked up a 3/8" set earlier this year. Save me effort when I replace a suspension component on my Chevy truck. Handy to have around.

Received a set of 4 (Snap-on) as a Christmas gift back in the late '80s. I've used the heck out of them ever since. If you're dealing with a nut/bolt that's only a bit hard-to-reach, they're sooooo much better than a universal-joint extension.

I accidentally purchased one at a garage sale a few years ago. 3/8" X 9". It saved my A$$ when I had to disassemble/reassemble my Jet Contractor table saw. Couldn't get a straight shot at ANYTHING.

It's a non-locking one = which I like. I picked up a 1/4" x 6" locking wobble. If you push on the socket it locks straight - sort of defeating the purpose IMHO. I'm looking for a 1/4" non-locking to replace it.

Cheers

Jim

I bought a Snap On 3/8" drive x 4" and a 1 1/2" the first time my driver showed them to me in about 1981. They are great! I also have a couple of sets of the H.F. wobbles in my second line tools.

I have a mixed bag of extensions, some fixed and some wobbles. I use them without much thought unless I know I will need some flex. Then I take a look and use what I need.

A lot like wobbly ball headed Alen wrenches. Love them!

Oh man, that #3 spark plug hole on the 919 is a bear to get to, tucked in behind the frame like that. Mine came with a toolkit that contained a cheap wobbler socket that did the job...just. A set of wobble extensions would be more versatile.

the HF ones are junk
I got a couple for Xmas present and they fell apart, bind up and are generally poor quality. I have some Craftsman ones that are nice, hold the socket and dont bind up.

Bought the Snap-On set in 3/8's and 1/4. Mine are the wobble/locking kind. Work great. Had many other brands through the years, but these Snappy's are the schniz-nit!

I bought the nine piece Mastercraft set from Canadian Tire. 1/4'' 3/8'' and 1/2'' short, medium and long one in each size. Price was $9.00 on sale, 75% off. I haven't used them all yet, but they are coming in handy.
