Rlitner,
Your most recent post, while informative, did not really answer the questions.
What seals a pipe joint when only a thread lubricant and not a sealant is used? If it is not an interference fit then what is the sealing mechanism.
Why does an extra 1/2 turn on a pipe joint during...
This misnomer comes up over and over, year after year.
NPT pipe threads do not form an interference fit. There is a permanent helical leak path that must be sealed with some additional material.

This is what I have
From Piping Handbook 5th edition
"Pipe threads are necessarily...
Teflon tape and pipe dope do not seal pipe threads.
The purpose of these materials is to reduce friction between the pipe threads and fitting so that the joint can be adequately tightened.
Pipe threads are tapered and the seal is accomplished by interference of pipe and fitting. This is why...
The front elevation of your garage has no lateral strength against wind or EQ loading.
I suspect the contractor added these two corner braces to provide some lateral strength to account for this. These braces would not provide any code acceptable lateral strength and the one that is cut and...
Kudos to yeldogt and ace10 and others. You may have saved the Sargent from a costly mistake. I hope, after the Sargent thinks about it for awhile, that he will realize you had his best interest in mind.
I figured in several months we would see a post “How do I repair my beam(s)”. I assume 3...

Velocity pressure Pv =(rho)v*2/(2Gc)
Rho= fluid density
V=flow velocity
Gc=gravity constant in ft-lb-sec system Gc=32.2
What you might take from this is Pv is proportional to velocity squared. So for low velocities Vp is quite small and for higher velocities Vp can be quite...
DeeKay,
Your pipe lengths after fittings is to insure fully developed flow provided that the Reynolds number indicates the flow in your piping is not turbulent.
Likely the reason you don’t measure velocity pressure is the velocity in your system is low and the velocity pressure insignificant...
Your measurements are for static pressure and do not include velocity pressure. You need to measure total pressure after each coupler fitting. It is likely that the air flow is turbulent after each coupler so your test rig would need to be modified to get accurate values.
It is contrary to most, if not all, structural building codes in the US to place building loads on a slab on grade. If I am reading your question correctly you are proposing to place second level floor and wall loads on a 6” slab and this would require a minimum footing, 12” below undisturbed...
Metal drill bits will drift in wood due to the non-homogeneity of the wood. This occurs even when using a drill press, though somewhat less than when using a hand held drill motor.
When I finally wised up and purchased quality (American made) drill bits I was amazed at the difference. I am...
Have a sheet metal shop fabricate a closed pan to your dimensions.
Maybe fabricate with a large hole to accept oil or provide a separate air vent. Have them solder in a 3/8 pipe coupling cut in 1/2 at a low point for a pipe plug.
I jack up my 991GT3 (which is a process) and use a normal oil...
In California code residential live load is 40PSF with no point load requirement
For light manufacturing live load is 125PSF with a 2000lb pt load requirement
If someone asked me to design a floor system for a wood shop I would use the light manufacturing requirement.
If you are intending to...
You need to add this with the garlic or it won’t work.
