All CFL floods take a minute to come up to speed. The enclosed bulb gets hotter, so they have to use a different amalgam in the tube. Buy a good quality brand (Lowes carries Sylvania which has good light quality). Mixing brands results in different colors, which I find annoying... Dimmables...
