In my attached garage there is an old dryer outlet (240v, no ground).
I have removed the outlet and plan to convert it to a standard GFCI 120v outlet (changing the breaker and color coding the wires as appropriate). The existing 10 gauge wire comes straight out of the wall, so I am planning to run it into the back of a surface mount J Box, connect the 12 gauge wire inside, leading to a a "device" box right next to it.
From there I want to extend a circuit to an exterior wall. I already have some 1" EMT and Romex (12-2 w/ground).
I am getting conflicting info about running the Romex through the EMT.
(The whole shebang is about 4' off the floor, and the exterior outlet will be as well).
My main question is about the Romex in the 1" EMT, but any other comments would be most welcome!
