I'm not a mechanic by trade. I just fix my own junk. I prefer to never have to use my tools, let alone with any regularity. Unfortunately I was once a Boy Scout and their motto "be prepared" has stuck with me ever since.

I bought into the Astro Nano sockets when they first came out. I really don't use them because I forget I have them and they only fit the head of a bolt. I haven't encountered a situation where they're the only thing that'll work.

If someone had zero sockets starting out and asked me what they should get, I'd probably recommend they buy semi deeps then go from there. They either weren't a thing or I didn't know about them when I started.

I don't own semi deeps but if it's a nut I'm grabbing the deep and if it's a bolt I'm grabbing the standard. Generally speaking. I couldn't get along with just standards.

Be like SO. Add grip teeth and call it a whole new product.

I mean kidnapping someone is kind of a matter of survival. Especially if they're scrappy.

I use a sawzall.

Damn I don't have any of that in my pickup. I do have jumper cables and a spare fuel filter. And some kitkat wrappers.

I get it it's just pretty cheesy looking for hand tools. It's not a huge deal to keep discussing I was just making an off hand comment about it.

That's kind of my point. No packaging would be better. The blister pack makes it like a cowboy and indians play set at dollar tree. Most hand tools are just hanging on a peg plain.

I like my jumper cables but they're useless when you don't have another operational vehicle handy. I have 2 boost packs for my semi truck and at least 3 hanging around for cars.

The blister pack isn't doing their image any favors. If they had an image in the first place.

I can't speak to those tools but I have enough Ryobi that I keep in my semi truck that it makes me consider adding their impact as well. My stuff currently consists of a drill, bolt cutters, and an angle grinder.

Snap on has margins. They're not trying to make simple small cheap things at high volume. That's what 6 year olds in China are for.
