How to Fix Harbor Freight Tool Chest Drawer Detent (Make it Easier to Open)

sorry for another 'bringing a thread back from the dead' post, but i've been looking all over and can't find what i need. i have the opposite problem on my 44" HF box....the detents wear out and the drawers won't stay closed. i have flipped them and they are like new again, but it's only a...

    The Harbor Freight PASS/FAIL Thread...

i have one of these too. yes, it's under powered, but i've been using it for a couple of years now and it's been ok. i just cut slower. i need a bandsaw for most of the cuts i make on it anyway!

    The Harbor Freight PASS/FAIL Thread...

i got the shiny red one for work. $359 w/ coupon, usually the lowest they have it for these days. it's pretty good i think. greasable wheels, smooth drawer slides...a comparable quality name brand would be closer to $1000 i'd think. and being for work, where it's liable to get banged up...

    hex sockets

heck, should have just bought 2 sets of inexpensive sockets and L keys and made long and short sets! i know ppl have used L keys to replace the broken allen, but for some reason, it never occurred to me to make the whole thing. even if one bought 'cheaper' sockets and better L's, the socket...

was just reading that one a little while ago.

    hex sockets

you are correct, i was rounding on my initial estimate. free shipping at $100, otherwise it's $9.95.

    hex sockets

looks like about $110 for both (now), have to check shipping. don't really need the torx set, but if shipping for the hex is, let's say $15, and free w/ both, then it would be worth getting both.

    hex sockets

is that the place you bought them from? did some reading on them, seems they are made in taiwan, and possibly the same/as good as vim and cornwell.

    hex sockets

any one ever use sockets such as these? they appear to be 'one piece', but are made for 'impact' and are proto's lower end offering, so i'd think they should be a bit heavier duty. you can see better if you click 'enlarge image' and zoom in some. they look kind of stubby tho, perhaps for more...

    hex sockets

i think it was mentioned here, but i did find some 'blackhawk by proto'....i think they were 12 pc sets of standard length for what looks like a good price, especially compared to other brands that only have 7 pc sets. haven't bought anything yet, too many choices.

    hex sockets

exactly what i want to know!

    hex sockets

thanks for all the input. let me clarify one thing...i can afford any brand i decide to get...the main reason for not WANTING to spend SK/proto money is because it will be in my work box, where it is more likely to get lost, borrowed or stolen. so while i want decent quality, i don't really...

    hex sockets

i suppose i don't really NEED the long ones, 90% of the time an extension would work. there are things at work where the head is buried in a spot, where the long narrow hex will slip in, but the socket part won't. i tried to follow a link from another thread about the duralast hex sockets, but...

    hex sockets

i'm looking for a decent quality hex socket set. i need standard length and long, in both SAE and metric. i see genius has quite a few set variations, but i've never heard or used them before. appear to be taiwanese. any good? which brands have the best quality for the price (not wanting to...

    Sears coupon codes

i used it in early december, not sure when it expires. SEARS2012 still works for $5 off of $50, just used that one yesterday because i had a $25 gift card to use and free shipping at $49...so i kept it as close to $50 as possible. i always keep my orders as close to the promo value as...
