    Dannmar D7 Tripping Breaker

I just finished setting up my Dannmar D7 (got it from Bruce at babco - check the Costco/Dannmar thread) but it keeps tripping the breaker. - I've got it on a dedicated 110 volt, 20 amp circuit - Using 12 gauge extension cord 15' long - Motor hums nicely for 1 or 2 seconds before the breaker...

    Adding a breaker

Thanks for the heads up on that hazard, belvedere. I think I'm stuck with what I have for the moment, but I'll definitely have a good look in there while I'm adding the new circuit to see if there's any signs of that sort of impending failure. I've been thinking about replacing it with a...

    Adding a breaker

Thanks for the quick replies guys! That will make things a fair bit easier.

    Adding a breaker

I need to add a new 20 amp circuit in the shop. The panel I'm using (Stabloc) has 16 slots for breakers, and 14 breakers. I know the code says two slots have to be left empty when the system is installed, but do those two have to stay empty forever? Or are they there to allow this type of...

The "honey I think you overdid it" garage

I think he must be referring to the landing at the top of the stairs. 3' x 5' 11" would have been more than enough. Nice looking place!

    How much to budget?

Like they said, a lot of it will depend on where you are. If you have plans, even basic scale drawings, take copies of them down to the local lumberyards. They'll do a take down of all the materials you're going to need, just tell them the specs you're after for doors, windows and so on...

How much concrete can you mix by hand?

Why not lay down some sand and use patio pavers for the floor? I think you can get them as large as 24" x 24". I did that in my 5' x 15' woodshed, using 16" squares then handmixing concrete to fill in around the edges. They should be more than capable of withstanding anything you'd put into...

    BC Build

Looking good, Ron. You certainly picked the right time to build with the weather the area's been having. Looks like a great view from your place as well. I'm just south of you in Duncan, and my builds seemed to attract nothing but rain.

    What tool(s) have gone missing?

I was missing one socket for months, discovered it still on the intake manifold nut right where I'd left it in a spot of typical absent mindedness. (Aircooled VW) Early on, I noticed my 10, 13 and 15mm wrench collections seemed to have a real transient nature to them...sometimes I'd have 3 or...

    Four year old machanic

For my daughter's 4th or 5th birthday, my bro and his wife gave her a little plastic toolbox with real wrenches, paintbrushes and a tape measure. I added a little finishing hammer, then they followed up with a set of screwdrivers. She loves it, and makes a big deal about bringing her tools out...

Would your wife let you get away with this? (see pic)

When my wife first met me, I had boxes of engine parts and tools stored in my bedroom and elsewhere in the apartment. She quickly learned that it was part of the parcel. Haven't looked back :-) Hell, it was my wife who insisted I insulate/drywall the shop before I got started on the house renos!

    Prep for paint?

After doing all the mudding and sanding in the garage, I was MORE than happy to let someone else do it in the house! Definitely needs doing though, if you want a half decent looking job.

    bmwpower's garage build

We've got chilled water running through copper pipes onboard the ship. When they installed some new pipes, it was amazing how much condensation was on them. If you didn't know better, you'd swear the pipe was either perforated or a seam was leaking and the water running down the length of it...
