Many of the more "creative" options discussed would have problems getting a certificate of occupancy. No COO no rental and severely diminished resale value.

The OP appears pretty inexperienced and is it tempting to put too much up on lofts. There is a significant risk to the OP or next owner if the structure is not sufficiently attached and then overloaded.

If you lack the skills and tools to do a simple post notch, I would reconsider tackling this project by yourself. This may be a time to partner with someone to teach you the basics.

Mr. Negative here - Even if you find a way to make it work, you will tire of everything it takes to move it, deal with finding space to put it, then clean up and move it back. Based on past experience, either put the bench somewhere else or deal with the shorter space.

absolutely red guard or kerdi on the tile side and don't create a double moisture barrier with plastic. Tile/grout is not nearly as water resistant as most folks assume.

Consider the impact on resale value. If it is hard to see the house because the garage is in the way, that will be a real negative on curb appeal.

I came to the conclusion for me that keeping anything more than minimal amounts of lumber or plywood around was false economy. It took up valuable space and even when I thought I did a good job of storage there was always a little warpage. YMMV
