Also Caper, I do not know if the ratchets are different inside but this particular ratchet has the cheap push forward/reverse lever.

I know what you mean Caper I have other Mastercraft rats that i used to use a lot and the odd time you would have one that would slip but keep working. I thought the ratchets were made in Taiwan but I wanted to know for sure.

The noise might actually be making its sound at the certain rpm your motor is running at when your doing 27 mph. Listen carefully when you drive it and/or rev the motor up to see if it taps at a certain rpm.
