Thanks! I love free stuff. Now if only I could convince the county to offer a quiz for free property taxes.

    Concrete Slab Pour Issue

I had some rough high spots in my driveway after it was poured. Smoothed them out with my little 3x21 belt sander and a few coarse belts. I think they were Gator brand, 36 grit that I got from Menards. It was easier than I thought.

    Paralysis by analysis

Lots of shelves. Pick one wall. Add some insulation and sheetrock or whatever. Then buy or make a whole lot of shelf brackets (or 2x4 frame) and run them from one end to the other at maybe 3 different heights. Then parallel 2x6's or 2x8's for strong shelving. 90 feet of shelving will clear a...

    Repairing butcher block workbench top

You may want to try a different scraping tool. Look at one of the woodworking tool websites like Lee Valley or maybe Rockler to see what they look like. They have scrapers that work in both directions, push or pull. I found that pulling seems to work better for me. I got mine locally maybe...

Concrete paver damage on front stairs. Best way to proceed?

You could use a flexible urethane adhesive/sealer. There's a few brands and a few types. With bonding masonry I've used Sikaflex and Loctite/PL with really good results. I would not use the adhesive type that sets up hard or the stuff that's self leveling. I use the type that sets up firm...

    Liftmaster jackshaft opener questions

If you have a heavy door you may not even need the lock. Unless the crooks in your area are super-sized or bring a forklift. I have a heavy door, live in a small town and have motion detector spotlights and a camera on the driveway. No lock.

    Air Lines....black pipe....

Clean threads, tape first for 2 or 3 wraps, then a little dope over the tape. I'm not a plumber but I had an old guy tell me that and I've never had a leak.

Clopay Garage Door Decorative Trim - solutions?

I had a similar problem with the plastic molding around the windows in my front door. Looked for a permanent fix but could not find anything. So I and my router table made new moldings from oak. It's been about 15 years and they still look like the day I put them on. (cranberry color)

    Harbor Freight still sells junk

Anything electrical from HF is suspect. Eventually the smoke will escape. How long it takes is a crapshoot. They do not sell replacement smoke. I asked. Anything rubber from HF stinks. It may be intentional to deter people from eating them. Anything welded from HF may become unwelded. It makes...
