Messed up my 4-way switched circuits

Not sure I follow. I guess I was trying to understand how many dimmers are required in a circuit with three switch locations. Can I get away with using one dimmer switch? Installing another gang isnt an option at this point.

Messed up my 4-way switched circuits

I followed your advice and everything seems to be working just fine :rocker: Now that I have these recesssed LED lights in working order I can see they are too BRIGHT. If I want to install a dimmer switch can I just place one where the power comes in or do I need to have a dimmer at all three...

Messed up my 4-way switched circuits

Hey vhf- yes that's right. I have a circuit consisting of three switched locations so i have planned for a 4-way switch flanked by 3-way switches. The load is at the 4 way switch box. And the second circuit is the same but I power at the 4 way switch box.

Messed up my 4-way switched circuits

I wired up my garage wrong. I ran the load and the power cables where the 4way switch will be. I dont want to tear out the new drywall to fix it. Isn't there a way to make this work by using the neutral as a hot lead? I'll try to get a pic. I actually did this in two seperate circuits. One has...

    Baseboard Protection?

something i've been meaning to do as well just haven't gotten around to it yet. My plan is to replace the rusty BB cover with a new one and put one of those clear automotive platic bra things over it. A local detail shop can hook you up with the materials.

Converting garage to living space questions.

Thanks for this. Very helpful. I have about 40,000 BTUs worth of baseboard and a 80,000 BTU boiler. :rocker:

I considered that too but it would ruin my plan to open up the the living room into the new room. Kinda tough to explain without pictures I guess. Plus I couldn't put a window in the front of the room if the door were there.

How do you measure BTUs worth of baseboard? I'd be interested in taking whatever number I come up with and comparing it to my boiler output.

Converting garage to living space questions.

You bring up excellent points. I've been very careful to not make alterations that would lower the value of my home. In my market this conversion will still keep me ahead of the game as most homes of similar size/price do not have a garage, or they converted their one car to permanent living...

good point. I know the floor will be 3 inches higher but that may not be enough.

Converting garage to living space questions.

We've been using the garage as an extension of the house for a couple of years now, but we need more permanent living space, at least until we move onto a bigger house. I have a 2-yr old and twins on the way.

Converting garage to living space questions.

Long time lurker here  I have gotten a lot of great ideas and motivation from reading posts on this forum but now that I'm about to convert a portion of my garage to living space I figure its time to actually post something. I have a 24x30 attached garage with a 16x7 door. I have to...
