Which one is a better deal PORTER-CABLE or Ryobi impact driver

for what it's worth, get the impact WRENCH, not the driver. I'd rather have heavy duty and be able to adapt down than to have a driver and adapt up that puny hex thing. when you are talking box store cordless, I have my doubts that even the name brands are that much better. I'd bet money that...

    I need cabinets

don't pay for used cabinets. be patient. no reason to pay for something that will be thrown out. when people remodel houses, no way they expect to get money for the old stuff.

    Lights in the floor

I build and repair inground pools for a living. I would not use a halogen pool light for the aforementioned heat issue. but, many older style lights, like the hayward astrolite in the previous link, use bulbs that screw in like traditional light bulbs. Yes, they can be 300w or even 500!! but...

Recommended me a good canned/recessed lighting for garage?

I would stay away from Halo. Way overpriced. The Depot sells another brand, cant remember the name, but just as good, box is almost identical. Barnett supply (nationwide) sells recessed cans for about 7 or 8 bucks including the trim. you have to tell a little white lie and say it's for your...

    Shop phone

I just used an old uniden cordless that we had. It won't hold a charge for more than a couple of hours, but it works perfect for the garage. no need to get an industrial strength phone. just how much do we intend on beating on these things? unless you are going to torque headbolts with it...

    ideas for hiding furnace/water heater?

I cannot stress to you enough how much you need to let that equipment breathe!!! aside from the safety issue, which should be first and foremost in your mind, there is the durability issue. If you go starving those units for air, they will not last long. You could end up with a situation...

    VCT Questions

you could rent a "bullit" heater, crank it to like 90, then shut it and work. I would not use one while actually working with any type of adhesives that could possibly be flammable.

    Garage Screen

I'd like one with a ferarri on it so people think I am cooler than I already am, which is almost impossible...... :rocker: :deathmeta

    Paint Booth

for the booth, I would buy one of those party fold up tents that are available at most warehouse stores (bj's, sams, costco) this way, the framing is already done. you would just have to sheet down the sides.

    Steel building?

thanks for the insight.... stickbuilt might be better for me because I can do it all myself and take my time. I would not have the first clue how to put a steel building together. plus, it will be easier to blend a stick built garage into my property/neighborhood.

    Some Garage Heating Ideas

that sounds like more of an air supply problem. I have had this happen to a couple of pool heaters in indoor filter rooms. they seemed to run "rich" ie: burning, but smell of gas out the exhaust. a better air intake solved the problem in those instances. this will be more of a problem with...

setting up a 220V outlet in the garage...

I would do it if it were me, but I also do electrical work at my job (swimming pool mechanic) and during the winter, I work with an electrician as a helper. with that said, when it comes to working in the panel box, just pay the man. unless you have done it before, you can really hurt...

    Steel building?

I have outgrown my 2.5 car garage and I was thinking of building a detached 2 car in my back yard. I was considering a steel building, anyone ever use one?
