    Alltrade and Snap On

This is my favorite: http://www.alltradetools.com/catalog/utility-knives/401-870232-snap-on-slam-knife.html I am a big fan of tools that come from the Ningxia province.

    Which breaker bar?

The breaker is a Wright 3435. I got it on eBay 3 or 4 years ago brand new for $4. It's one of my favorite tools. I put the drive into the plug directly and use either a rubber mallet or a piece of a 2x4 to strike the breakover to break the plug loose. It seems to work pretty well for me.

    Which breaker bar?

The Accord has a ****** drain plug like that, and I've accessed it many times on my car. I really wouldn't be afraid of using the adapter in that situation. Firstly, the case is aluminum and you really don't want to put too much torque on the plug to tighten it up. That being said, sometimes...

    Which breaker bar?

Use a long 1/2" breakover and a 1/2-to-3/8 converter. If you need a longer bar for more leverage it only makes sense to increase the drive size.

How do new SK sockets compare?

Your luck may be different. But I would be sure to inspect the product closely when you get it. For some reason SK has had big problems with quality control in recent years.

How do new SK sockets compare?

Congrats on your purchase. I actually like SK as a brand, particularly vintage SK, but I've had bad luck with some of the new stuff. I bought the same set you did a few years ago. I was pretty happy until I inspected the sockets closely: The broaching was uneven and off-center, the ball...

    Need some sockets

Another recommendation for Proto and Wright sockets. Both socket brands are of exceedingly high quality and are certainly on par with Snap On. I would personally avoid new SK sockets. I returned the last set I bought due to very poor quality control.

    Really Old-School Wards Ratchets

Neat piece of history there - thanks for posting. This is the first time I've ever seen that style. The 1/4 " has almost no rust!

flashlight lanyards and a few other questions

I don't know, but if I were you I'd probably just replace the lanyard. I don't like to come into contact with Brake fluid, and even if it's been washed off it seems like residue could stick around. 550 paracord works great for lanyards.

    Damn you SK!

I bought a chrome deep and standard length metric set from SK a few years ago. They looked great initially, but when I inspected them more closely I noticed very shoddy work. Things like grit in the chrome, off-center milling, and poor, uneven ball detents were present in nearly all the...

    Snap on FC 72

I love Snap On. They make great stuff, obviously. But if I were you, I'd also consider the Wright posted above and the SK version. They both have smaller heads for tighter access, and you can get them for around $20-30. The SK has very fine action with very low reverse resistance. I really...
