Thoughts on a new socket set

Thats my latest obsession..ebay vintage usa tools and homemade tool sets. I have an obsession for Thorsens (Powr Kraft) , and Rem Line boxes. Maybe since they were mfd im Dallas. Also, pLomb (proto) and challenger are in my hoard and growing.

Thoughts on a new socket set

Doing a engine pull with Snap On wrenches and my favorite Matco set from the 90s it really is better overall. They fit in tighter spots, tighter on the bolts and easy to clean vs. a old set of crapsmans. Hard to explain, but its a bit easier. You are spot on about the finish and quality of...

Thoughts on a new socket set

I have some of those older sets with metal cases. In fact thats the point of my reply. I have been on a kick expanding my hand tool wrenches of Mac, Matco, but my weakness is the small ratchet sets. I kave a NOS thorsen 3/8 set but its from 1980 or so, no case, a plastic shipping tray. So i...

HVAC for 40x60x16 red iron building?

This is handy. Ive have experience with IBC code compliance, and a few things are missed in the selections. The Construction of "tight" isnt the best for a metal shop. This means air infiltration, ex: a home has masonry, or siding, fiberglass R-13, vapor barrier, sheathing and then drywall and...

Thoughts on a new socket set

Filing a patent cost about 4k. If you have a gadget , give it a shot. In my career as a mech designer /engineer , ive invented 3 things with patents, but rights are assigned to my employer. So my Bosses name is on the patents. Im not losing any sleep.

    Best value sockets?

My Dad ism is "why do you have a club" ,aka the Adjustable crescent wrench i always grab first. Another is when mowing over a snapon wrench in the yard, that i left fixing my bike. "Im taking this out of your allowance, but if it happens again, its out of your rear end!"🥺

    Best value sockets?

I whittle the night hours away, on the Bay looking for the mixed spare sets of Matco, Mac and Snap On. I put my go to wrench set with onesy-twosey Snap ons (top drawer pic) Sometimes i score a decent lot. All my Craftsmans are in the workshop toolbox and keep the good set in garage (even though...

    Best value sockets?

I have a inherited set of newer H.D. Huskys and they are excellent. I have older Husky and Challenger set my dad gave me from the 70s and still arent broken. Shockingly stout wrenches.

    Best value sockets?

I have been on the Bay buying up older Thorsen , Powr-Kraft and SK loose tools, and partial sets. Im addicted to Thorsen for some reason. Maybe since they were made in Dallas TX. and i had those Montgomery Wards catalogs as a kid. I never looked at the lingere , only tools...lol.

    Best value sockets?

I am a sucker for the "Mini" sets by Craftsman at Ace Hardware. Often and 11 piece 1/4 or 3/8 sockets set w/ratchet and case under 20 bucks. they go 1/2 price around holidays. I give them as Christmas presents. But for real budget and quality, Its Stanley. They make Proto, blackhawk, and a slew...

Wiring for this blower fan motor please.

the group here is pretty accurate. Its seems to be a 3 speed motor. Heat/ac blower. Hard to tell , but Orange is L1 it has the cap. Black is usually hi speed (cool) L2. All manufacturer's arent all consistent. Im a R&D Design Engineer for a Leading HVAC corp by day. Attaboy Dave (hint)
