    Above 1200 Sq/FT Restored 1930's Auto Shop

A friend of mine bought himself about 20 acres of land that was previously used as a "salvage yard" and one of the first things he did was go buy a used dirt screening/sorting machine and a small excavator. Every weekend he would go over and dig out the top 3 feet of dirt in an area, run it...

    Automotive relay question

One item I didn't see mentioned is to look over any "spare" relays terminal for any special items. The common "ice cube" style Bosch units can be had as 4 or 5 pin parts, normally 20 or 30 amps and there are versions with a damping diode or a resistor across the coil as well. Those are polarity...

    I didn't know that.

Those twine cutter slots are also handy to cut seat belt webbing without trying to cut other things.

Finally all caught back up. Great to see most of the folks are still around. Love the easy maintenance on that Tri-Motor. Controls have an issue, just reach out the window to adjust them! House is really looking great.

What tubes are you missing? Unless the other member of the household "cleaned" them I have a large stash of tubes. Might have a few that would work.

On your doors, try giving these folks a call http://www.bretonindustries.com/ They are just a bit up the road from me. Not sure what they would charge or if they would be interested. Way back when they sent a few different bow assemblies to my old shop as a test of powder coat. Told the folks...

Anneal it to dead soft and it should seal better. Usually the problem is that the surfaces are no longer nice and flat.

Looking good, but only white light? Would have thought you would use color changing for mood lighting. I have found only one drawback to LED lighting. You cannot use the common open style outdoor lights with them if you are in an area that gets snow/ice. They don't generate enough heat to melt...

I noticed you wanted beading but don't have a roller handy. If you're only doing a few, Take a piece of hard wood, use a router and run a groove down the middle of the wood the size you want the bead. (I use 1/2" usually) Now you have a couple options, take an air hammer chisel, cut the end off...

Grizz, that bottle looks a lot like the one that Dan Aykroyds Crystal Head Vodka comes in. The vodka actually has a local tie to NY, it is filtered through quartz crystals known as "Herkimer Diamonds" found in this area of the state.

One benefit/detriment of the foam is that it acts like glue and bonds EVERYTHING together. Benefit is that it makes a very solid structure and seals very well. (some folks find out how well when they get rain indoors from having no air exchange, oops!) On the flip side, if you ever try to tear...

Thomas, Will you be installing sprinklers in the house? I ask because, although those open trusses are a time saver and strong they also fail big time in fires. The staple plates fail and they fall apart. Also you mentioned that the basement won't be finished as it will be the wood shop. Will...

Ok, honest question: How is SnapOn Ratchet any better than C-man or HF caliber?

Couple things I haven't seen through this entire thread is, who made the ratchet and when. C-Man, Husky, Kobalt, HF are all pretty much made on contract. All have been different makers over the years and different quality levels as well. Comparing just C-man alone is a large task. If you read...

    Standby generator: Power whole house?

A reasonable source for good generators can also be the cell & phone companies. In my area they replace them at around 500 hours run time. $4,000.00 gets you a 30-45Kw NG/Propane unit that makes both single and 3 phase power.
