Mag Drill Chuck and Speed Question

I have a need for a mag drill. There seem to be many chuck types offered. A Morse Taper, Weldon, RotaLoc etc… I will be using an annular cutter drilling mostly 3/4 to 1” holes. Most plate will be A36 1/2 to 3/4” thick. I would occasionally need a larger or smaller hole in a thicker or...

    What makes a toolbox expensive/better?

Did not see it mentioned but the drawer pulls are different on the premium boxes. Some are just formed metal, some are formed with a reinforcement piece. Some formed with a decorative piece and some formed with a large aluminum pull that helps with drawer rigidity such as an older 6S Matco.

    Would I regret a 4 post lift?

Not raising the ceiling… I see the confusion Let me give an example. The lift arms under the frame on a two post will allow for a higher height off the ground before it hits the ceiling. Take a truck that is 7’ tall. Drive on a 4 post that is 7” tall and you have a 7’-7” height from floor...

    Would I regret a 4 post lift?

Your height clearance will be better in a 2 post. You lift from the “frame” or unibody. 4 post you have the height of the drive on part and you lift from the bottom of the tires. Depending on the vehicle you may get more than 1’ more OH clearance with a 2 post.

    Shop Press Question

My vote is a 20t is fine. I have a DAKE. Definitely a large difference in quality between it and HF due to the design and the press being way more stable. No comparison between the two. If you are bowed up on something the press that has slop can be dangerous regarding wanting to kick out...

Wondering about these rebar "dowel baskets"

Those are used in roads (as mentioned) and Airport Apron Paving. smoothly dowels in a wire basket. Dowels are epoxy coated for corrosion resistance. Sometimes every other panel is placed for a checkerboard pattern. You have to cut a wire in the middle before the second placement to allow for...

Above 1200 Sq/FT Beam sizing for Pricing

To be clear this will be fully engineered (what ever system I go with) so I am not trying to short cut that. Right now I am looking at pricing and different options such as masonry, ICCF, pre fab and a full blown steel structure. Prefab may need to many mods to be cost effective. Could I get...

Above 1200 Sq/FT Shop Layout / Floor Plan Input

Thanks for the detailed response. A few points of clarification. My set backs allow for the size. Me plus one to start on employees. Hopefully max out at me plus 3. Me plus 2 is probably ideal. Equipment room is large as I am not doing typical repairs. A bit of a specialty niche and will...

Above 1200 Sq/FT Shop Layout / Floor Plan Input

I am building a repair shop from the ground up and looking for some input on the attached layout. My lot is about 180' wide by 190' deep. As of now I only have only front access to the building. I could increase the depth of the building and make it shorter and have a front and back...

    Metal Building Facade Question

I have to go back and do some reading on here for the type of building as there are a lot of threads on this I have noticed. A while back when I was looking I did get a quote from Mueller for one with siding. Not real sure what they sell, but it looks like columns, a type of scissor truss and...

    Metal Building Facade Question

I am looking hard and heavy at a metal building that will be permitted, need engineering, and be built in MS. The area I am erecting this does not allow for the typical metal siding, and they require something else as a facade such as Stucco, Brick, Hardie Plank, etc.. It will be around 50 by...

    service entrance conduit in concrete

I am far from an electrician but a few thoughts from life experience. You would want a minimum of 2” of concrete between the conduit and the face of the form so it has a better chance of not breaking out. You could also put the conduit to the edge of the form and you will just see the edge of...

    3 Phase Service Question

You summed up what I was trying to say earlier in a much easier question. By the way, do you mean 208(207 actually) is 10% and not 5% of 230?
