DO NOT buy anything with the Husqvarna 40v battery. The tools are great but the batteries die within a year or two.

I'm not expert but why no get a couple sheets of plywood and rip them down to a few inch strips and lay them down to cover a few openings with each strip.

I got a stud finder from Costco that works great on my plaster walls. I believe it is made by Franklin Sensors and is the ProSensor. You'll see it's rebranded often and you should be able to get it for $30. I highly reccomend it.

Looks like I have a Rockler near by that has some classes. You usually see wood lathes for sale for cheap, but now that im looking nothing great is popping up. Ill have to wait for the roght thing to come around.

How many people have a humidifier on their furnace? Ive always been told they arent the greatest thing for your furnace and they will also produce the mildew smell eventually. I too have the stand alone but dont have the mildew issues mentioned above. Are you using well water?
