    Need another rollaway. Which brand?

Not sure what's at the Homeless Despot, we don't have one near me. I know they like to peddle Milwaukee though? And I think they even make boxes now? They have Husky and Milwaukee at the local HD. They Milwaukee are a bit pricier. In Home Depot's world most wider tool chests come with a wooden...

    Need another rollaway. Which brand?

After 35 years I've outgrown my old Craftsman rollaway. Affectionately known as "Holmes" for obvious reasons. I am probably looking to add another one -- something under 54" wide but if I relocate the compressor I can go to 80 inches wide. Is there any major difference between the stuff I...

    Bench Building Questions

I hadn't even thought of making separate benches, but it's a good idea. I was thinking more along the line of built in permanently. I'll have to contemplate that one for a bit longer.

    Bench Building Questions

I'm building a long workbench along one wall of my garage, it will measure 15'. I am planning on using 4x4 legs and 2x4 for the frame that the top will be attached to. I will use it for temporary holding various tools, some kind of heavy, like arbor press, mitre saw. And holding things up...

    Miter Saw

Start here with the cheapest basic saw: Ryobi $119. Here is the Rigid for $199 Or, the Sliding Ryobi for a bit less: $169 And the DeWALT for $219. They didn't have this one at my local store, but it's on their web page. Apparently it's the King of 10" Chop Saws, the Makita $549

    Miter Saw

I'm looking to buy a basic chopsaw. Use will be building benches and bookshelves and things like that. I have a 30 year old table saw, it's the smallest one that Sears made at the time that has served me well for years, but it can't come close to cutting a 4x4 in one pass. The local Home...

Post Sears: Christmas 2017 Tool Vendors

I am an occasional poster here, and I haven't kept up, apologies in advance. I see that even Sears long-time suppliers are bailing on them now, and I know that their tools have changed a lot in the last 5 years too, sometimes for the better, sometimes for the cheaper. I still have a fond...

My search for made in the USA vise grips.

Quite possibly. The rest had logos that said "Made in the USA of Globally produced components" or something to that effect. These just had the straight "Made in USA" label on the package. Also, the packaging was a slightly different color than the rest. OTOH: they had Spanish on the back...

My search for made in the USA vise grips.

I found this pair at the NAPA autoparts store 1/4 mile from home. They have been there so long that they have very slightly rusted in the package. (Hey, it's Western Washington) They don't say "Made in the USA" anywhere on the tool, but there is a US Pat. with the number on the jaw.

    Greetings from Salmon Creek, WA

Hi. I'm a long time lurker and poster at the sister-board for choppers, but have never posted here before. I live in a typical suburban house with a nice three car garage I hope to transform into a nice shop over the next few years. I love motorcycles, own several, and also have a highly...
