I've been using Simple Green to clean my epoxy floor for about 3 years now.
1) sweep floor
2) dump 5 gallon bucket of clean water on the floor
3) squeege floor
4) add about 1 cup to 3~4 gallons of water and scurb the floor with a medimum brisel stiffness brush. For the areas that are heavily...
I used the Rustoleum Professional Epoxy (Solvent Based) and their clear on my floor about 3 years ago. Details / reviews are here if you are interested: http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=204436
At the time I wanted to stay with a "single" product line to eliminate any...
Hi,
I applied the Rustoleum Professional on my floor about 2 1/2 years ago and love it. Did you apply one or two coats? Reason I ask is that after the first coat mine looked like you describe, but the second coat made all the difference in the world. Here is a link to what I did...
I put two coats of the clear over the Rustoleum Professional Epoxy Shield when I did my floor. Been 2 1/2 years and still no stains, everything wipes up very easily. If you do apply the clear I would suggest adding Shark Grip or some type of anit-slip. Without it is a sheet of ice!
One more...
I am not familiar with the Talon Grip. You can get the Shark Grip at Lowes and at most Sherwin Williams (I think SW actually makes the stuff). As for a different clear I would not know what else to suggest, but I'm sure one of the Pros on this site would have suggestions. Like I said in my...
Someone gave me a tip on how to minimize any possible damage from the run off of the etching solution. Pour a line of baking soda accross the driveway just outside the edge of the garage floor threshold. This helps to "neutralize" the run off. Worked pretty well for me.
+1 for the added light being reflected off the epoxy. I was amazed how much brighter my garage was after applying a grey colored expoxy. Definitely can see much better when I am working under a car.
+1 an the advice to take your time and do a lot more reserach before starting your project. Also, IF you decide to go with the Rustoleum product make sure to use the Professional EpoxyShield which is solvent based and not water based (I think HD only sells the water based junk). Again...
I'm not an expert but I think you should add the Sharkgrip to the final coat (that's what I did). Otherwise you will reduce its effectiveness when you put an additional coat of clear over it. Just my $.02.
My garage is about 400 sq ft and if i remember correctly 1 gallon was just barely enough for 1 coat. Since the local HD stocked the Rustoleum clear I bought an extra gallon or two to have on hand just in case I needed it and then returned the unopened ones.
Hi,
I used the Epoxyshield Pro on my floor about 2 years ago.
I applied 2 coats of the epoxy shield color about 24 hrs about (it was fine to walk on after about 20 hrs). Don't try to be cheap and do just 1 coat of the epoxy. You won't be happy with the results. My garage is 440 sq ft. I talked...
I just painted it (matched the blue of the chips I used in the floor) and then put 3" MDF to cover the gap between the block and the drywall. Was pretty inexpensive and looks good I think. You can see a picture here: http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=204436
The last pic shows...
If you are going to put another coat of epoxy on I would suggest you also do at least one coat of clear. It doesn't cost that much more and it will give you an extra layer of protection. If you do apply the clear I would suggest you add anti-slip as well (I used the Shark Grip and it works...
