    1000Sq Ft Home- Bathrm

I have inset 3/4 ply between studs and I screwed it in with pocket screws. When I did it I just did a 4' belly band around the shower to give me flexibility later.

No, I wouldn't use the foam either, I would just kerdi all the way up and not use the redgard. The foam is totally fine if it works for the space but there is nothing wrong with a drypack floor with the kerdi over it. I rarely every use the foam, too expensive, but I have driven a forklift on...

    The Bosch addiction thread

I should have posted back at Christmas but my in laws have been giving me Lowes gift cards for years and I for get to use them. I had a fair bit accumulated and a couple years back I had purchased the 18v sander and loved it and figured maybe I should buy some more bosch stuff. I now have I...

What's your reasoning for not just doing kerdi all the way? I do a fair bit of frankenstein installs but if you are going to the trouble of installing kerdi just do it all kerdi. I personally like kerdi drains with laticrete hydroban but don't tell anyone. The new version of schluter All Set is...

I'm not saying there is anything wrong with epoxy grout but if the grout in your shower is getting stained you have bigger problems... Epoxy grout won't last any longer than any other grout. T1-11 is exterior rated, should last fine, the rough surface isn't easy to clean. You will be fine...

I use a lot of Stans and Orange, seem to have satisfactory results with both. I got a free bottle of Vittoria sealant once and it worked fine. I got some free WTB sealant once and it also did the job. Stans and Orange are easy for me to get locally, so that is mostly why I use it. I've been...

    The Bicycle (Specialty) Tools Thread

I have recently had to remove DT swiss tape and Reserve tape (broken spokes) and both were stuck very well but left zero adhesive on the rim. I swear the reserve tape could have been reapplied and still would have worked, if I hadn't have balled it up when I took it off. Sounds like I need to...

    The Bicycle (Specialty) Tools Thread

I haven't found tire plugs for automobiles that are the size of the Lezyne plugs, that doesn't mean they don't exist but the car ones seem much bigger to me. The sizes in the lezyne kit are great, if there are similar sizes available commercially, I am sure they would be great and cheaper but...

I may consider using one. Have you actually used one though? I don't mind paying for something if it has value. As surprising as it sounds, I have had very few issues with sram 12spd derailleurs (NX and GX). I had one about 6-7 years ago that had a clutch issue but it was brand new and was...

black & white porcelain tile availability

Sort of surprised Floor and Decor wouldn't help. All the contractor specific places (Like Dal Tile) will be an in person type thing and you likely will need to talk to someone and not just try to look around and find what you want. The black and white floor tile isn't a huge thing right now...

black & white porcelain tile availability

I know Dal Tile still has a black and white option. I would think most of the tile brands still can do this, you likely need to go to a real tile store and not a big box. I suspect Floor and Decor can also get this for you. I am guessing there is one near you, if you prefer the big box experience.

    The Bicycle (Specialty) Tools Thread

All my comments on this are as an amateur hack and not a pro wheel builder. I have one of those chinese knock offs and I have used the park tool version. Both seemed to give similar results. I think if you are just a guy who maybe replaces an occasional spoke it probably isn't needed. I build a...

Is real wood flooring (living room) no longer popular?

The answer is can't fix it. That's one of the biggest issues with click together flooring, the only way to "fix" something is tear it all out to wherever the issue is and replace the piece and then put it all back together. Ain't gonna happen! No matter what tiktok says, you aren't fixing it...

Is real wood flooring (living room) no longer popular?

I think most people haven't ever had real wood flooring, so they don't really know what it is. I also think people get swayed by the "25 year warrany" that is slapped on the fake stuff. There are a lot of things that make the fake stuff a compelling sell, and I get it. As a contractor that did...
