Cooling my 6 Car Non-Insulated Garage

Venting to the attic is a bad idea, especially in humid areas. If you are venting, it has to be to outside. Vented roofs are already under vented and adding more input is just going to cause more issues and not help anything. Creating more openings at the top of the roof is even more work and...

Tale of two start capacitors. Why is the US-made one so much smaller?

Just so we are clear, you aren't comparing apples to apples here. The Titan Pro is a lower-quality product than the Titan HD. The HD is a better capacitor, has a longer warranty, and is built better. Size is really irrelevant, it's how it's made and the quality of the materials. The HD is better.

Cooling my 6 Car Non-Insulated Garage

Unless you are camped out on the job 100% of the time it's pretty tough to make sure everything is perfect. I just happened to be at my house when the insulation contractor was there blowing in the ceiling, even though I had talked to my contractor and he had talked to the insulation sub, the...

Cooling my 6 Car Non-Insulated Garage

I have to be honest, the insulation in walls won't make a significant difference. I am fully insulated and currently my garage is 89 and exterior temp is 75 (8am). By end day it will be hanging at near ambient temp or higher (which looks like 89 today). If I am going to be working in the garage...

Looking for thread where OP made their own hardwood flooring.

I would love to build a door, they seem so simple but yet so out of reach... Heck, just building new jams for a door is not a simple process. Speaking of which, the wife brought home a door and wants it hung, I'm dragging my feet getting to it...

    The Everything 3D Printer Thread

I've never had an issue just opening one and printing. Very possible it is wet but here in the arid utah desert we don't have much of that thing you all call humidity. Basically, my garage is like a dryer in the summer and the winter is usually even dryer than the summer. I will try running it...

For the most part, I haven't had any issues with any brand and run a lot of sunlu but haven't used the microcenter stuff. (except the one I just posted about). I need to just buy a bigger supply from school house and stop all the one or two at a time buying I am doing.

I don't think so...I should try that. It was fresh out of the package but that doesn't mean it was dry...good thought. I will give that a try.

Anyone had a roll of petg that will not work? I have a roll of sunlu petg in a tan color and I can't get it to print at all. If I am lucky it prints spaghetti, if not spaghetti its a glob stuck to the extruder. I have the settings correct, I have other rolls of sunlu petg that print great. I...

Looking for thread where OP made their own hardwood flooring.

Let's also drive home the point that in that post the guy was making flooring to do a Parquet floor that was all Short Boards and all the same size. Trying to do the same with long and shorts and everything in between is a huge challenge without the right equipment. I just have a hard time...

    The Bicycle (Specialty) Tools Thread

I currently have 3 of them, two are the clear top with the organizers and one is the solid lid. My top box has maybe half the organizers removed and basically the bigger tools dumped in the void. Smaller stuff, or regularly used stuff in the organizers. Next one down is similar about half...

Just to note, I don't use the screen on the P1S for anything. Not sure what anyone would even use the screen for? I do almost everything from my phone or laptop? I just don't think the screen thing is that big of a deal. The P1S does everything I want a printer to do. I'm not sure I would gain...

    The Everything 3D Printer Thread

I have made the Mrs dozens of different cookie cutters. Def get the AMS and if you can swing it the P2S BUT the P1S is a great unit to start with and if you get to the point you need something better you will probably want 2-3 printers anyway.

Attached garage - knee wall insulation

I think the outside is best if you can go a foot or two below grade but it looks like it's backfilled already so unless you like digging I wouldn't go that way. I never feel like there is a great way to protect the foam on foundations either. SO...do it on the inside and cover it with plywood...

Hanging Bike Storage--any remote-release locking pulleys out there?

I have somewhere around 18 bikes in my garage in various methods of storage. The rope and pulley method is my absolute least favorite. The amount of rope needed for an 18' ceiling would be enormous; they are a hassle to work with, somehow seem to always want to jump off the pulley at the...

    The Bicycle (Specialty) Tools Thread

Good distinction, this is for car. Space isn't a huge concern but I don't have unlimited space. But when we pull the camper I have no issue with space and have a bike stand, tools, spare wheels, etc. When we are just in the SUV space can get a little tight but I have a reasonable amount of space.

What are you all using for your travel tool cases? I take a pretty extensive set of tools/parts with me to MTB races. I am currently using the craftsman versastack cases. It has worked okay just the way they came but it isn't great for the actual tool organization. I have three of them...

    The OKnife U1 Utility Folder

It is totally possible to open one handed. It is not as easy to operate as a quality pocket knife though, it has fairly stiff action compared to a good single blade knife. It has a bit of an initial tension but then once it starts it goes fairly easy.

Garage lighting upgrade- before and after

I went and checked my Amazon history and I ordered my lights Nov 7, 2021 and had them put up as soon as they came. I have no noticeable dimming and none have died yet either. Mine are on virtually everyday from about 5pm until midnight and longer on weekends. I don't expect them to last forever...

Garage lighting upgrade- before and after

Just for reference, I have had Barrina lights in my garage for almost 5 years. They get turned on at some point everyday and they are on a timer to auto turn off at midnight. So, they have a lot of hours and are going strong, just as good as some other "name brand" led lights in other areas of...
